Canadian born Kevin Ogilvie is best known Nivek Ogre of the band Skinny Puppy. Skinny Puppy is the revolutionary industrial band that began back in the early 1980's and through turmoil and multiple breakups are still blowing people out of the water today. Their latest project is the DVD The Greater Wrong Of The Right which has a live show filmed in 2004, anti-Iraq War documentary called Information Warfare and the most wild thing of all is that Ogre took Dwayne Goettel's footage from the Puppy on...

I thought this article was great! It was nice reading about Ogre's thoughts on the DVD and what Skinny Puppy has been doing recently. I'm glad to hear there is a new album being worked on- this gets my blood pumping. I'm a huge fan and have been geeked out ever since I saw the show here in Columbus. After the show was done, I had a bunch of Ogre's blood poured all over my head, and then promptly went to the bar a few doors down and screwed with people- fun times. The show was absolutley mesmerizing and the fact that there is such a good DVD available to capture it is priceless.

Well, what can I say? SG has interviewed my guy.

In all seriousness, this is about the best thing I can think of to happen this morning.

Here's to the continuing legacy of Puppy, my fave band of all time.

Just wanted to point out that Ogre must have been misquoted when it came to him mentioning the guy primarily responsible for "The Greater Wrong Of The Right" DVD. His name's William "Bill" Morrison, not Bill Morris. And he's a very cool artist in his own right.

"Wow. Somebody else feels this way and can still create things and express themselves."

Although I didn't start listening to them until the early 90's they shook me out of depression and possibly saved my life. smile

It's unimaginable to me to think about how many people around the world Skinny Puppy's music has affected, in positive ways. I'm one of them. I credit them, too, as being the force that helped me out of so much depression, anger and ugliness, and they continue to inspire me to be creative in as many ways as possible. I'm so happy that Puppy is yet again going to the next level and blessing us with more art. If you're reading this, Ogre and cEv, I LOVE YOU! THANK YOU!

P.S. I'm still upset, however, after seeing oHgr and Puppy 3 times on this last tour, that I have yet to meet you in person. 'til next time...

Skinny Puppy's one of the most creative & innovative band ever.

They have always clearly expressed & denounced many fucked up things in this world, and asked the listener to think for themselves.

"The freedom to choose in is your minds"

Indeed.

I had the chance to watch the DVD last night; great footage, fantastic performances and amazing visuals. I was really glad to see one of my favorite bands release a wealth of material on DVD, until . .

I watched the Information War segment on Disc 2. Does Ogre know who Ramsey Clark is, and what he stands for? I hope we can chalk this up to Ogre being a 'useful idiot', or trying to seem young and hip by slamming Bush (Pathetic, like Jagger singing about neo-cons or Santana wearing a Che shirt). It bothers me deeply to think that Skinny Puppy endorses a man whose resume reads like a Gestapo fan club.

Ramsey Clark has spent his whole career defending Nazi's (Karl Linnas and Jack Riemer), mass murders (Elizaphan Ntakirutimana, Rwanda and Karadzic in Serbia), tyrants (Milosevic in Serbia, Aristide in Haiti, Qaddafi in Libya) and terrorists (Sheik Omar Abul Rahman who was involved in bombing the WTC in 1993, and the PLO). Clark was in Tehran cheering on the Islamic fascist while they held Americans hostage at the embassy. Clark was in Hanoi willfully spreading communist propaganda against our troops. More recently, Clark served as a personal member of Saddam Hussein's legal team.

Clark founded the International Action Center, a communist group that openly supports killers like Castro and Kim Jong Il while condemning the United States. IAC was paid, by Saddam, for legal representation in the United States. Does this sound like the type of person who could provide objective criticism on the Iraq War?

Ogre talks about dissent being a part of freedom; dissent in North Korea and Cuba are met with the death penalty that Clark protests in the United States. The only 'founding fathers' Clark respects are genocidal maniacs like Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Hitler. Where are their ethics?

I can look past the swastika imposed on the American flag, I can tolerate the whole 'corporations, greed, war . . .' theme, not exactly original, far from factual, but it is a staple for entertaining imagery. Art is a medium that inspires discussion; dissent is a voice that needs to be heard. However, when artists like Ogre falls victim to trying to recapture that nostalgic teenage angst by giving a platform to a monster like Ramsey Clark, it stinks of ignorance.

Sorry, didn't mean to go off like that, but it was just so disheartening to see such talented and creative people getting duped by a scumbag like Clark. There are so many better choices if they wanted to make a case against the war that could have inspired serious discussions. Instead they chose to give a voice to someone that advocates violence, death, collectivism and poverty as long as it hurts the free world. If anyone has any doubts about this, try doing a search on Clark and any of the above names and see what comes up; his own words are the most damning.

But, all being said, Disc 1 is amazing. I'm off to buy it just for that footage. I will most likely never play disc 2.

Does anyone know what the hell is up with the Electric Boogaloo Goth video on Disc 2? The flashing red eyes was a nice touch, sorta like the end of that Bonnie Tyler video.
