Todd Solondz's Palindromes was definitely one of the stranger American films to be released this year. In fact it is one of the strangest films from any country to be released in any year. The baffling tale of 13 year old Aviva who will do anything to become pregnant. Eventually she runs away from home only to have a series of awkward and disturbing encounters along the way. Now everyone can enjoy the film on DVD.

Todd Solondz has long been hailed as a powerful voice in cinema and Palindromes certainly...

Could be me, but it seems like Solodnz starts off engaged and friendly, and tapers off. By the end of the interview we're getting a lot of one-sentance answers, like he doesn't want to play any more.

Great interview. I love Todd Solodnz. The store I work at didn't get Palindromes, of course. We suck.

Am I the only one who thinks Solondz's films are pretentious, overrated crap?

Thirded here, too. Facile misanthropy for people who think it's cool to hate everything and everyone.

You think Happiness and Welcome to the Dollhouse are pretentious?

I feel that they are completely not pretentious, a little too real

DRE: I hope this isn't a rude question but do you totally understand Palindromes yourself?

That's a fucked second question.
And for some reason Perfect.
But I couldn't read the rest of the interview without dragging that bit along with me like toilet paper to my shoe.

Welcome To The Dollhouse and Happiness are some of my favorite movies. Storytelling was cool too. But Palindromes was god-awful, boring, and tedious. I was dissapointed. Let's hope this was just a minor shitty glitch in an otherwise remarkable collection of films and will not be a continual trend...

hey editor, try explaining instead of just attacking. thanks.

i'm new here. i don't know if anyone will even see this old thread. Todd Solondz is one of the greatest writer/directors working today. his movies are mind-fuckingly original and alive.

So LEGIONNAIRE, what are some good movies?
