it depends on what you like...if your into football, get sirius..if you like baseball get XM...if you dont like either, Serius seems to have a better selection of music....Bam's show is funny as hell on Sirius. Still, I dont think either are that great yet, there is a good variety of genres, but seems like they play the same shit too much.

Sirius is awesome. I was told also that XM is geared to the "older crowd." Judging by the music that each provider plays I would say that that statement is definitely true.

Mind you this is only based on me listening to the rock stations.

I sold both when the were new... I chose Sirius and I'm happy I did.

Both offer similar channels but Sirius has a deeper selection of music. You just seem to hear the same playlist in different order on XM where Sirius, though you will (as any radio station) hear some things/artists more than otherse, seems to play a bit of everything. The uncensored version of Not Now John by Pink Floyd, early Zevon, Zappa, The The... Channels 21, 25, and 26 are great if you like alternative and more underground things... I've got to get around to getting a Sirius system in my new car... my dad has my old system.

That's almost the opposite of my experience. XM plays very deep playlists, and has a channel devoted to new music that Sirius lacks.

Either one's better than commercial radio, but I just wanted to say that that's not what I hear on XM at all.

I've both services and prefer XM by a healthy margin.
I can leave XM on a station for an extended period of time without the desire
to change the station. With Sirius I'm seldom without an enjoyable music selection,
but I find myself channel surfing to locate it.
Plus, I own a bunch of XM stock.... help a brother out and subscribe!

- Please note that I'm an old fart and my musical taste leans toward the mellow end of the musical spectrum.

By the terms of the license both XM and Sirius have for their satellite space, they're supposed to eventually put out receivers that can get both services. If those existed, I'd just say get one of those. tongue

That said, I think you should look over the lineups of both channels, and see if either service has some program or channel that you must have. If so, get that one. I think Sirius does a better job with hard rock and dance/electronic music, but XM is much better on alternative rock, classic rock, country music, and jazz. So decide where your interests lay.

Or just buy both. tongue

(edit) Someone asked about comedy: I'd say the comedy channels are pretty well even in terms of quality.
