TV personality Nipsey Russell has died at the age of 82. Best known for his years as the ever-rhyming perennial guest on game shows and variety shows throughout the 70s, he also appeared as the TIn Man along side Michael Jackson's Scarecrow and Diana Ross' Dorothy in 1978's The Wiz. He appeared in the 90s on Conan O'Brien and as recently as 2003 on Hollywood Squares.


One of my favorite Nipseyisms:

"Do not covet thy neighbor's wife

but it is no sin by far to covet
thy neighbor's daughter."

I'll pour beer on the curb before I take a swig in memory of my homey Nipsey

Ah, man...I grew up watching Nipsey on TV.

He lead a good life and made many, many people happy.

Here's to ya, Nipsey!

I remember seeing him on reruns of Match Game. R.I.P. man.

I met him when I was about 13, in NYC. He was a guest on a game show, and I waited by the stage door, and he gave me his autograph. He was extremely nice. May he R.I.P.

A god of TV gameshows, but a god nonetheless.

That's sad. I always liked that guy and his little rhymes.
