HOPEFUL

I'm lost

OCT 03, 2005 05:09 PM

I got a Smashing Pumpkins tattoo this weekend. I'm not exactly thrilled about how it turned out (the guy was in a rush and didn't get the design right), but that's what I get for going to Atomic an hour before closing.

I was thinking of getting the lyrics "Destroy the mind, destroy the body, but you can not destroy the heart" around the heart later. By a different artist, of course.

Any comments/suggestions on how to fix it up?

Be nice to her, this girl seems really cool.

And when I say, "Cool" of course I mean, "I looked in her pic folder and she's hot."

It's not just some band to me. It has been my favorite band for more than five years and it represents more than just "some band" to me. I like the tattoo, I'm just not happy with the quality of it.

It is supposed to be more rounded out, like this picture, and the color is not supposed to run into the letters.

You do not tell a lie.

And I'm not sure what this is supposed to look like, but it looks fairly good to me.

Well until an actual tatto artist post in the thread the best option would be go to a tattoo artist and have them look at it and see if they have any suggestions..

I learned this the hard way and now you have too.. always look at the design once it's been stenciled on... and if you are not happy feel free to say I'm not happy with that... it's not what I'm asking for.. I'll come back when you have more time...

because it's a permeant thing obviously...

but ya best bet is to go through the local shops find an artist that others tell you is good and whose work you like, and is similar. (ie if all their work is B&W not the right artist) and other silly obvious things.. and then work with htem and see if you can't fix it a bit... take you time though.

In my eyes, the tattoo is small enough that the little mistakes won't be recognized by anyone else.

My advice to you would be to go to another tattoo parlor and ask if they think they can fix it. Also you might be able to ask for a refund, since you are obviously not happy with what they did. My roommate does tattoos and would be more knowledgeable about this sort of thing, you can ask him in his journal: Meaney.

PS- A tattoo is a personal thing, fuck what anyone else says about it.

What, exactly, is wrong with using a band's label? Is it not mysterious enough, or is there some unspoken rule that you have to get an elusive tattoo maybe?

Yeah but the whole "original" thing is a little overstated. I mean, what is reall original? By your standard, 99.5% of tattoos aren't original probably.

Not at all, it's clearly your choice. But normally getting a tattoo is supposed to be more original...no?

Getting a tattoo means getting whatever the fuck you want. She wanted this, it means something special to her, so why do you care whether or not it's "original"?

Yeah I agree with what most people are saying, see if you can get it fixed or maybe even covered. In the future, never get a tattoo spur of the moment. Plan it out, check out the artists in your area for the best and make a scheduled appointment. It's just safer and you are more likely to be happy with your results.

I honestly don't care what she gets...i suppose you missed the part where she asked for comments/suggestions.
Those where my comments.
Thanks.
