The voice of Inspector Gadget and the man behind Get Smart, Don Adams, died of a lung infection. He was 82.

"He had this prodigious energy, so as an actor working with him it was like being plugged into an electric current," [actress Barbara] Feldon said from New York. "He would start and a scene would just take off and you were there for the ride. It was great fun acting with him."
Adams was very intelligent, she said, a quality that suited the satiric show that had comedy geniuses Mel Brooks and Buck Henry behind it.
"He wrote poetry, he had an interest in history ... He had that other side to him that does not come through Maxwell Smart," she said. "Don in person was anything but bumbling."
Adams had an "amazing memory" that allowed him to take an unusual approach to filming, Feldon said.

He will be interred in a coffin, in a concrete box, in a lead-lined tomb, behind a steel lid, and under steel bars.

"I asked you not to tell me that!"

Sad news. My dad and I used to watch Get Smart reruns together.

That's really sad to hear.

He also voiced one of my favorite cartoons as a kid, 'Tennessee Tuxedo"

R.I.P. Mr. Adams.

Ouch. That hurts more than I was expecting. I always liked Get Smart and it was a big part of my nightly Nick At Nite marathon when I was a little guy.

Now "old movie" night at the Playboy Mansion won't be as fun. Don and Hef were old friends and he used to come over once a week for poker and once a week for old movie night, when Hef would show movies like Casablanca.

Just shows the wide range of fans and friends he's collected over the years.

"Hold on, Chief. I'll be right there..."

GoGo Gadget wings and halo... thanks for making espionage as funny as others made it dramatic.

I was trying to explain "Get Smart" to my girlfirend today who'd never seen the show. ( Apparently she went outside and played as a kid instead of watching reruns on TV like me) I kept busting into laughter trying describe parts of the show, and Agent 86's mannerisms, I know it didn't make much sense. It had to be seen to be appreciated.

Me: "Not the Craw... the CRAW!"
Her: whatever
Me: Giggling to myself anyway for the next 10 minutes muttering "heh... Craw..." biggrin

Rest in peace sir! biggrin

Edit: I realize my comment was rather light hearted for a death reaction, but that show brought me incredible laughs growing up, and always will. I'm incapable of being sad when I think of Don Adams...

I watched all the reruns of Get Smart. I was so happy when Agent Smart and Agent 99 got together. Oh, you made me laugh Mr. Adams. Thank you for that.

Maxwell Smart, upon seeing a five-hundred foot bow and arrow poised to destroy Washington D.C.:

"That's the second biggest bow and arrow I've ever seen."
