so something is wrong with my internet, and i don't like it.

i'll log in to something, or go to a page that i frequent, and it will load fine, only to have the page suddenly go to google a few seconds later.

wtf. frown

Google probably invaded and conquered every site you're trying to go to.

Either that or it's some sort of spyware. But that's not my area of expertise.

I've had something similar happen but not with google... there are certain malicious programs out there that will redirect you to a certain site everytime you do something in your browser... they can be a pain...

First suggestion is a virus scan (though sadly that rarely works)

Next would be to do some research on it (since it's sending you to google i can't imagine it's there virus) other people might know about it...

Find out ways to clean it up... it might be in your registry so deleting a file on your computer might not get rid of it...

Worst case... frown do a backup on documents that you need and know are safe and try to reformat... though use this as a total last ditch effort...

I'm a little bored at work so i'll check and see if i can find any info for you...

Not finding much, have you run any virus software or spyware programs? If you have any more info that would probably help with finding info on it...

My computer problems usually result from me resting my elbow on my keyboard without knowing it. Are you doing that?

Yeah, it helps when you run those in safe mode and clear your temporary internet files..... spyware rules.

if she can visit this site and not others, it might be a dns issue. unfortunately, that's something that's dificult for the average person to fix, and is usually an isp issue. you don't have comcast do you?

As long as your operating system is Windows XP or Windows 2000, you could try Microsoft Antispyware.

This is free Betaware that expires on Dec. 31, 2005. If you're using a licensed copy of Windows, it should renew into next year, unless Microsoft decides to start selling it, in which case you'll probably be prompted to upgrade (at which point you could decline and uninstall the product).

The nice features of Microsoft Antispyware are its automatic updates and real-time scanning. As soon as you try to install a product that contains spyware, this product *should* catch it automatically and disinfect the contagion.

Good luck. smile

Another excellent antispyware product that has a 30-day trial offer is Webroot Spy Sweeper 4.0. It retails for $20-$30.

Are you running WindowsXP?

1. You can reinstall internet explorer with your Operating System Disk (Windows XP, etc.. .) Just put CD in and click on "install optional windows components"-- remove IE, then reinstall it after you've restarted.
2. You can run HijackTHis
3. Go to an earlier Restore Point: Run: Msconfig; then run "launch restore point"

yup, you have a browser hijacker.
be very carefull with hijackthis. you should probably post the results and have someone tell you what to delete, as it will definately return false positives.
