Jodie Foster is one of the best actors planet Earth has ever given birth to. Her two Oscars, her performances that havent been nominated for anything and the two brilliant films shes directed all attest to that.
Now shes starring in the new thriller Flightplan which is about a recently widowed woman who is flying her husbands corpse back to America in a giant plane she partially designed. Her daughter disappears on the plane and everyone seems to think the girl was never there in the first...
As soon as I saw the trailer for this movie I turned to my girlfriend and said "we have to see that". And not just because the trailer looks good (which it definately does) but because Jodie Foster is in it. She truly is one of the greatest actors on Earth. Contact is one of my favourite movies (and books) of all time.
I'm a huge fan of Jodie Foster but this movie pisses me off. It's a total rip-off of the novel The Lady Vanishes which was written by Ethel White and later made in to a film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The fact that their passing this off as original is bullshit. I hope the writers get sued for copyright infringement. I wouldn't be pissed if the filmmakers would at least acknowledge the fact that this is a remake or at least an adaption. If you're going to remake a film, have the balls to say so. Don't change a couple small details and pass it off as an original work.
I grew up with Jodie through her work, from the Coppertone ad, a guest appearance on "Julia," as Becky Thatcher, and on. Really one of the only actresses I had it bad for (and still do). Her other work is wonderful, she's sexy and has eyes to die for. I can't wait to see this. I liked Panic Room. She's like a year older than me so there's that, I guess. Watching her and her talents grow. I like her hands too. Her tweeters were nice in the shower scene (Backdraft?). Lots of respect for her.
JF: No one is asking me so there you go. When women hit 42 it just doesn't become an issue anymore. They're like, Please don't take your clothes off.

A vaguely similar premise doesn't equal plagiarism. Not by a long shot.

It's not, as you say, a 'vaguely similar premise'. It's prety much the same damn thing. I caught an test screening of it. The plot is the same. The only real difference is that the original takes place on a train and an old woman goes missing. All the writers did was change the location to a plane and changed the old woman to a child. Yeah, that makes it original.
a bloke i was at school with cowrote this film (still can't say movie) . i am chuffed because he was always talented and has actually got to do what he loved doing . how many people get to do that!
