As you may or may not know, Stiles organized an effort to provide relief to victims of Katrina.

Well, I have an update.

He just called to let me know how things are going. He and Idjiit are just outside of Montgomery, Alabama and they plan on taking I-10 into Mississippi "until there is no more I-10". They have over 7,000 pounds of supplies (both comfort and medical) to distribute, as well as fuel for the people who need it.

I'm just proud to have been a little part of this, and I'll provide updates as I get them.

Sure...but has Stiles claimed responsibility yet? wink

Just kidding. I'm actually not surprized by his generosity. If you know him well, or have met him in person...you'd know how much of a genuine, stand-up guy he is. He's a good guy to know.

KIDDING, KIDDING!

stand up guy and a magician mechanic!
He kept my girls crappy truck running for years after it should have been put to rest!

The guy is one of the most gracious, caring, and "i'll do anything for anyone" guys I've ever met!

I just heard from Stiles again ... they are in Coden, AL and have delivered their first supplies.

Clothes, toiletries, diapers, etc. From what he says, these people haven't seen SHIT from anyone until they showed up.

Doing good work ... moving into Mississippi

I didn't want to respond because I didn't know what to say and the effort is so awesome it speaks for itself, but I just wanted to add that he's an amazing parallel parker too.

Stiles and Idjiit rule. I am honored to know both of them personally. If I wasn't so busy preparing to move, I would've loved to of come along to lend a hand to their efforts.

UPDATE!!

They are currently in Slidell, Alabama.
They have been all over Mississippi ... Ocean Springs, Biloxi, Gulf Port, Waveland ...

Pretty much everything that was not clothing has been distributed. About 1/3 of the trailer is still filled and they're looking to pick up more supplies.

They are going to head up I-12 toward Baton Rouge because I-10 is so fucked up.

Also, Stiles wanted it known that the FEMA people are all over the place helping people. That's good to hear.

When I asked how everyone (both gov't and civilian) were reacting to his efforts he replied, in ultimate Stiles fashion, "It's all been thumbs up, man."

I was fortunate enought to have met him a few months back. This is really great stuff and he and Idjiit are doing fine stuff here. Good luck to them both in their mission.
