Scott Derrickson kicked himself up a notch when he took on the role of co-writing and directing the studio funded horror film The Exorcism of Emily Rose. His previous credits were such straight genre fare as Hellraiser: Inferno. But it’s a whole different game when you’re working with actors like Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson on a film that combines courtroom drama with religious horror.

In an extremely rare decision, the Catholic Church officially recognized the demonic possession of a 19 year-old...

I believe this movie won't present something new. Weve seen it before. I wonder how it ends though...

Ummm....the director actually believes in possession? I find this quite disturbing in itself. I will definitley not see this film. I think the actual real life story is enough for me. This poor girl was seriously ill and her disgustingly ignorant parents and priest decided she didnt need to go to the hospital, she needed a good old fashioned exorcism because everybody knows that mental and physical illness is just a sign that the devils trying to steal your soul....long story short, she ends up dying due to the fact that no one would get her any real medical attention and the priest gets tried for indifference, which was the cause of this poor 19 year old girls death!!! That is just fucking sad, especially considering that a movie like this just gives credibility to that fucked up priest and the girls parents' belief in the devil. I would like to see a horror movie about the ways religion twists and manipulates people's minds into doing some of the most terrible things in history.

--SPOILER-ESQUE ALERT---
huh

i just saw this movie, and although i jumped and squealed like a siss several times, the ending ruined the whole fucking film

whatever concerns the actress had about this film and the motives of the director were completely valid, and i think he violated her trust
skip the ending and watch passion of the christ to at least keep the gory/creepshow feeling going while getting the gist of the themes of "emily rose" anyway

/bitter i spent 8 bucks on another deistic piece of trash puke

--NONSPOILER--
the young acrtress that was recomended was indeed excellent, and i hope she gets cast in something i like soon
