Face it, if you're a bloke, there's a part of you that wants to be James Bond, and if you're a lass, there's part of you that craves 007 himself. If this is you, do you fancy auditioning? The producers of the new film are getting desperate.

Tnext 007 movie, Casino Royale, is scheduled to start within 12 weeks but the makers have no script, no Miss Moneypenny and nobody to play Britain’s most enduring spy.

Amy Pascal, chairman of Sony Pictures, which will be raising the £70m budget for the film, will this week convene a second 007 summit to pick a new Bond. The first, last year in a London club, ended in disarray.

Many replacements for the ousted Pierce Brosnan, who played Bond in the past four movies, have been discussed, but so far all have failed to match up to either the Irish actor or the other perennial favourite, Sir Sean Connery, at one time considered as director for Casino Royale.

Clive Owen had been touted for the role, but he rejected the offer, saying that James Bond was dated. Jason Statham (Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels) thinks he'd "add a new, modern feel to it, definitely."

Personally, I'd pay good money to see Eddie Izzard as the next James Bond after he didn't get the Doctor Who gig...

Mister Bond, I leave you with a choice. Your very life is in your hands: Cake, or Death?

Clive Owen rejected it? Too bad, he was fantastic in Sin City and Closer. He'd make a great Bond.

Since, by the law of remakes, a Casino Royale remake will be much, much shittier, they should find an American to play Bond.

You know having a woman play 007 wouldn't be a half bad idea. I mean if even Clive Owen thinks that James Bond is dated, why not add some kind of sexy twist. I mean it is the 00s maybe James had a sex change! tongue

I always thought they should try remaking the style of older bond movies. Older cars, gadgets, hair and clothing styles. Bond belongs in the cold war wink

They should do that as a TV series, it would have the potential to be absolutely brilliant. So much better than Young Indiana Jones and all that other tosh. Espionage never tasted so good outside of the ColdWar.

Sir, you should be in the Honours list for the mere suggestion.

I used to like Owen but he was shockingly bad in the dreadful SinCity but I've never seen him as Bond.

As opposed to all of those deadly serious 'real' Bond films? It was one of the better ones made by Connery, so in my book, it counts. Remaking it now lends it the original a bit of legitimacy, doesn't it?

I think we're all just waiting to hear that Keanu got the role.

Connery wasn't in Casino, Peter Sellers and David Niven were. It is a bad movie.

Bisexual?! eeek
With Clive Owen turning down the role, there's only one other dude suave enough to pull off James Bond...

I guess I haven't seen it in far too long if I honestly mistook Peter Sellers for Sean Connery. Off to the video store.
