Even though Bret Easton Ellis has written so many brilliant and disturbing novels such as Glamorama, American Psycho and Less than Zero hes been coming off so strange on his recent press tour. But hes is a lot cooler than what I expected him. After reading Lunar Park, then perusing his recent press and even reading the press materials that the book publicity people sent along, I expected a stoned intellectual lunatic that would take one question and then talk for 45 minutes. But we had a great and...

Also, who's going to break into his house and steal his dream journals?
I'm down. But I won't do it alone. We need a plan...

agreed -- good interview. Lunar Park is now my next-to-be-read, right after i finish Moby Dick
funny, I'm reading Benito Cereno right now. I put it down when I saw this interview was up. I have to say, I would much rather be spending my afternoon with Bret than Herman.
I got an early copy of Lunar Park and was a little disappointed after I read it... But maybe it'll be better the second time... after reading this interview..
THANK YOU for asking the Glamorama film question. I've been dying for information on this, and I'm glad somebody was educated enough to bring up the topic. I really, really want to see Roger Avary's version of Glamorama.
So again, thank you. (And I'm writing this just after I finished reading Lunar Park)
the tiny paperback version of less than zero wore a hole in my jeans when i was younger. i was 14 and i carried it around with me everywhere. i couldn't put it down for the longest time.
and everytime that i eat a big mac i can't help but think of that book.
I met him during his Glamorama book tour. I was the last person out of the bookstore, we talked about Less Than Zero. One of the first books I read when I was a teenager. I was so nervous afterwards I walked out without paying for my copy of Glamorama. And, he signed it, too! Score!
I just went to skim through the interviews and totally freaked when I saw Bret's...I wonder if he was as laid back when he was younger, it would be interesting to compare. Dream journals..holy fuck, I can't describe how bad I want to read those. I am such a fan of his work that I tried to start a book club after reading American Psycho, I think it is one of the best books ever written.
I know this is an old interview, but I just found it.
My boyfriend and I met him in New Haven, CT when he was doing a reading from Lunar Park. He was really nice and we talked for a bit. He signed our books (we have all of them between the two of us). I also called my friend who's a huge fan but couldn't be there.. and he talked to her on the phone. It was really cute. =D He seems like a really great guy from that.
