On-line services for exam paper answers, coursework and end of term reports have been available for the students who can't be bothered or don't have time to do the work themselves. Some U.S. states have passed laws to trying to stem the tide of these sites, by restricting the sale of papers. However, one graduate student is going a little further herself: she's suing them for stealing her work.
Lawyers for a graduate student named Blue Macellari filed a lawsuit in federal court in Illinois alleging that three Web sites that sell term papers made a manuscript she had written available without her permission. She is charging the owner of the sites (as well as the sites Internet service provider) with copyright infringement, consumer fraud and invasion of privacy, among other things.
According to Macellaris complaint, a friend doing a casual Google search of Macellaris name last January came across references to a paper she had written during a year abroad at the University of Cape Town in 1998, which Macellari had posted in 1999 on a personal Web site at Mount Holyoke College, where she earned her degree.
But the friend found links to the paper not on her Mount Holyoke page but on two Web sites, DoingMyHomework.com and FreeforEssays.com, that said the paper was in their databases. Macellari says she later found several hundred words of her paper on another site, FreeforTermPapers.com
These three sites are all owned and operated by one company, and by Thursday, the paper had vanished from websites but not from search engine caches.. Internet Law expert John Palfrey says that if Macellari's claims are true, then its going to be hard for the defendants to win the case. Let's hope they get what's coming to them.
I actually kind of wish I'd sold my writing skills in college, rather that working in the college Writer's Center tutoring program for a mere $8 an hour. . . . .

i used to sell reports i made in high school.. hehehe
but i never used the reports for myself...
i just made extra reports so i could make money and go rock out at metal shows!
I feel like shit for it now, but once during my freshman year of college a friend who went to another school paid me to write one of his papers. He dropped out of school after his first semester and makes more money per year than I'll probably ever make. *sigh*

You guys got paid? I wrote so many papers for my friend. For free. Because I was secretly in love with her.
