I did a search of the boards, and read though all of them, but seeing as how most of them are pretty old, and there are many new cameras out there now, as well as many new members, I'd like to ask for help.
I'm looking to buy a new digital camera. Right now I have an old Canon Powershot, but it's only 2 megapixels, and I'd like more. I'm looking for $200 or less. I was thinking about this one because its 4.1 megapixels and it's only $150. But I'm not sure.
I'm not really looking for any specific features, other than more than 3 megapixels and a decent zoom. That's pretty much it. And I'd prefer not to get a Sony, because then I have to buy a memory stick.
So any suggestions, or warnings about certain cameras would be appreciated.
there is an amazing amount of digi cam reviews on the internet.
places like cnet.com even have guide to buying and features as well as price boundry listings.
simply even typing in the camera model with the word 'review' behind it into google will return tons of information on that model.
i usually just narrow down my choices to a few based on others reviews and opinions then head over to the store to hold em and see which i like best.
then i buy it at newegg.com for ultimate savings.
p.s. this works for anything. not just cameras.
happy hunting
what will be the principal purpose of you camera? think about what you'll need most or what you'd like your new camera to have as a good feature. 4.1 mega pixels is good though for a decent resolution but it depends on what you want. The HP photosmart you are looking for looks fine for the price but i doubt the zoom would be good quality, just look about it.
If you want a good camera that last longer for a best price, i'd stick with canon because they are easy to play with and well-made but it is only what i think.

I pretty much just use my digital to take photos of my pets, and my friends & family, mostly. I just want something that I can get good clear, crisp closeups with and that has a good resolution, because I have a photo printer I use a lot.
I got a Kodak Easyshare camera not too long ago and i f'n love it, ive taken pics of everything including my sketchbooks.
I was so happy with it that i bought them for people for xmas, and wedding gifts.
I just got my friend one for his wedding check out this link they are a nice price for 4 mp and can take video, they also have internal memory just incase u forget your card at home plus an optical zoom.
ive never heard a complaint about these cameras, everyone has loved em
