Elijah Wood Lands Iggy Pop Role

Actor Elijah Wood has landed the role of a young Iggy Pop in a new movie but he's terrified about portraying the outrageous punk icon.

Wood will start shooting the top-secret film in 2006 and he admits he's getting more nervous as the start date approaches.

He says, "I'm scared to death of doing it, because I love him (Iggy Pop) so much and I respect the music so much.

"I don't want to be the person responsible for screwing that up."

That's a strange casting choice.

I hope by "young" Iggy, they mean 12-year old Iggy.

Why don't they just have Iggy Pop play Iggy Pop? He's the youngest looking 80 year old around.

Looks like frodo needs to get an a bowflex.

He's a good actor, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

And he managed to be a believable frozen eyed, reptilian freak in Sin City, without a hint of Frodo Baggins to be seen. Not an easy trick coming off a mega event like LotR.

Iggy Pop is what's known as "ugly sexy." Elijah Wood, meanwhile, is really cute... like a hobbit. This makes no sense.

What an....odd choice. I've never liked Elijah Wood, but if he can pull this off, wow. Still, he'd be one of the last people I'd consider.

As much as I love Elijah Wood, this just isn't going to work.

Oh, he'll totally pull an Adrien Brody and lose a ton of weight for the role. And be hot. Very, very hot.

iggy pop is like the exact opposite of a hobbit.

In surprise news, it was revealed earlier today that hobbits do not actually exist, and that Frodo Baggins was portrayed by an "actor", a person whose jobs it is to assume the role of those who are not necessarily like themselves.

...and the requirements of an "actor" to play the fictional role of Iggy Pop are also the opposite of those required for an "actor" to play a hobbit.
