You may as well resign yourself to your Wal-Marty fate, England.

Spazism, is that like a more common all garden version of a Bushism?

I keep hearing that Asda is going to be renamed to Wal-Mart. I'd hate for that to happen. In my mind, Morrison's is really Safeway. I just can't shake this brand loyalty.

Technically its already Asda-Walmart.
I'd be surprised if they ever got rid of the Asda bit though.

They fail to realise that in this day and age people don't only shop in one supermarket. Different stores excel in different departments, and so people shop around.
And Ada-Walmart has pushed too hard for the cheaper side of things in price wars, and has lost out in the quality wars.

Both of the Asda's in my town are scumpits. One is mahoosive but has no range in the products. The other managed to farm its car park out to a private company, you have to spend a fiver in there to get free parking. So unless most of their customers mug someone in the car park they can't afford to shop there.

Sainsbury's is also huge but quite expensive. Tesco is huge and I've never shopped there. Morrisons is huge and quite nice actually. Ours greets you with pop, a cafe and various special offer food items so no compost or fish there... unless they're on special...

Basically Asda is so depressing that nobody wants to go there unless they can't avoid it. If you want cheap food there's always Morrisons which is a lot brighter and more pleasant to shop in.

Asda has *really* gone downhill since Wal-Mart bought it. I used to shop there all the time.

Pah, I shop in Tesco over Asda anyday. Did they ever stop to think that the reason they have such a dominance in the food market is because they offer the best service, sell the best products and are just all round most convenient?

clearly not

That was very funny. Having said that, all the mineral water companies are trying to sell us tap water - you just have to drive to Wales, France, Derbyshire or Perthshire before you turn the tap on!

Every English person I know loves going to Walmart when they're in the US because of it's huge range of cheap non-food stuff, but over here they've kept Asda as just another supermarket

Back when I was living with my parents I ate Asda food bcause we lived practically next door to it. Now I'm at Uni in Wales I shop at Tesco. In spite of it being a 45 min walk away when I have a Scummerfield and an Iceland down the street, I still make the trek (or send my boyfriend when he's being pliable wink ) purely because the Value noodles cost 8p a packet

Point of interest, I've never seen an Asda anywhere in Wales, its all Tesco
