hehe...I put maybe 5 minutes into my password, the same one i use for pretty much everything. I've offered $50 to all my hacker friends if they could figure it out. 2 years later I've yet to have anyone break in.
I read an article that suggested using a "passphrase".
Some of you use a sentence already, and then make it into a word consisting of all the first characters.
Forget all that, just use the phrase!
The key thing is length. Once you get above ~14 characters, the hash lookup method just doesnt work.
I usually use a couple phrases, maybe about three or four words each, and then use the first letter from each. I sometimes use numbers instead of letters. For example, I might use "1" instead of I, or "4" instead of A.
Extra special tip: If you hold down the ALT key and hit three digits on the num pad, it creates a special character. For example ALT+2,5,5 = null character.

If memory serves (to steal from Spock) those are called "Extended ASCII characters." How could I forget about them? I remember being in 9th grade and accidentally discovering them in Wordperfect. Anyone know frequently they are allowed as valid password characters?
