On TLC right now: "Born with Two Heads"

Medically speaking, I'm sure this is interesting...personally speaking it's freaking me right the hell out.

Yeah, I couldn't watch that one....

1) cause it was disturbing me
2) I started thinking about this thread and didn't want to mull this dilemma over in my head again

one really sad thing about things like this is in my opinion that these kids don't get saved because we're all so humane and all honestly believe see can live a happy and normal life. (yeah i'm sure she'll really enjoy her teens, love life and a happy marriage)

these kids get saved because people can't admit to themselfs that death isn't really a horrible fate that should be avoided at all costs.
people don't want to face the fact that despite what might be the best and logical sollution they'd have to let a baby die instead of trying to make it into some kind of patchwork person.
people want to be able to hold that wrecked little body and say that there's a healthy brain in there somewhere and they saved it from that horrible fate, death.

at least from parents i can somewhat understand that but i find it rather sick that doctors and other outsiders all try to patch it back together, more for their own peace of mind than to actually help the kid because really, in the end what did they really achieve?

my thoughts: if the girl has some quality of life and there is hope for her future then yes, they should intervene to give her the chance

but if not, then probably best to let the child go.

i feel so sad for her and her family frown
