Just curious what those who saw it think? I've been pretty eager to check it out and it seemed like a solid building block for this to live up to the levels of the other HBO series'.

I enjoyed it. It showed a lot of political intrigue, social positioning, and class differentiation, along with some trimmed bush.

I don't know that it will have a character I enjoy more than Al Swearengen, but I think it might have a hero I admire more than Seth Bullock.

Usually HBO replays stuff on Monday, although it maybe on HBO2

I loved the show btw, it should be a good one.

I'm not sure that style of grooming is all that authentic to Rome circa 55 b.c., but much like Deadwood's use of the term "cocksucker," I'm sure I'll hardly even notice after episode three.

Wait, so they showed some woman's bush? I'm still catching up

An article in USA Today on Friday made reference to be forewarned of female and male frontal nudity. Much like Deadwood, they don't seem to be holding back.

...and how many folks out there have sex with 4 or 5 servants watching. VERY open society.

Holy CRAP... it's starting to get really, really good.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Anyone watching this now? The alliance between Octavian and Pollo is going to be fucking badass.

I'm really digging this show. It started kind of slowly but it has really been picking up lately. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with Verinus now that he's back in the legions.

Yes, to the Octavian/Pollo alliance. It's like Master Blastertongue
I think things with Verinus are going to end badly. They are really setting him up to be the typical Romantic tragedy character.

I kind of hope Verinus bites it soon . . . otherwise it bodes badly for the others . . . and honestly I just like them more than his grumpy ass.

I like Verinus. I think he's got a kind heart but just doesn't know how to use it. But I agree with ET that he's going to die tragically soon. I thought it was going to be by his brother-in-law's hand. But now I'm thinking it's going to be Pollo.

I actually like Verinus too. He has just been corupted and bastardized by the system that drafted him to kill and fight in the most brutal of conditions from an early age. Then he tries to escape it and make a life for his family and is forced to return to war just to feed them. Hell, one whole episode was about him trying to figure out how to make his wife happy after losing touch with her after like 8 years at war.

He will die tragically though. By Pollo's hand? I don't know.

But wouldn't that be the most tragic death of all?

Either Pollo or his wife. But I think his wife will be too obvious and I don't think she could pull it off.
