SO I am poor and starving and fighting the urge to order a pizza with my non-existent money. But on the other hand, I am tired of eating ramen noodles for three meals. SO before I go out and kill one of my neighbors for meat, does anyone know how to dress up ramen noodles so my taste buds can be fooled and my stomach be at rest?

do what we used to do add shit to it
ramen and ketchup + spaghetti(sp?)
ramen with a scrambled egg = breakfast
cook the ramen drain the noodles and then put the season in, add a little of the water you drained just enough to make it just a little slimy+ better then before ramen

ramen + brocolli + fried tofu can make a cheap meal and can fill you in on a couple things you're missing from a regular ramen diet. I would also suggest seasoning the ramen yourself and cutting out the msg.

Scramble up some spiced tofu in peanut oil, boil your noodles, and chop up some iceberg lettuce. Then toss it all together with crushed peanuts and this sauce. It's awesome. And cheap. And it won't plug you up like eating a bowl of starch will smile

chop up any left over meant in fridge, drop in ramen while boiling

drop an egg in ramen while boiling, it will scramble and cook the egg

drop in a kraft single slice sans plastic

add soy sauce or other seasonings that you have

Thank you all for your suggestions I will try some of those out, and X-Factor, I have a job, and it sucks, the money I make goes to school, rent and getting me to work. Ramen is my life source. What I really need is to marry rich.

i use salt, curry, cayenne pepper, and a tiny bit of black pepper and that makes tolerable. putting chicken in it is also good but if youre poor i assume you dont have any.
also potatoes are really cheap. you could grab some of those and some garlic and celery and pretend its real soup

but do it from a payphone and then when he gets there say you didn't order it. then ask what he's got and see if you can get it for cheap.

damn, i don't see how some folks survive on just ramen noodles. even if i was poor and starving, i'd probably go beat some ignorant yuppie and take all his cash and go get me a value meal from subway or somethin

if you have little money and cant afford to eat well do yourself a favor and dont eat ramen. get some rice, potatoes, assorted veggies and beans (real ones, not in a can). you can have enough food to last for weeks and it wont cost much more than ten dollars. these may not be the kind of foods you want most , but there is much more nutritional value in the said foods than a quick fix like noodles. hope this helps.

eat healthy!

ok. here we get criminal... or misdemeanor....

call a pizza place and tell them they gave you the entirely wrong order and you would appreciate it if they would exchange it for the right one. then you go pick it up and they almost never ask for the original order back. if they do you tell them "oh damn! umm, hold up i can go back and get it. my roomate called you guys and just told me to go get the right order"
then they give up and give you your pizza.

or... my roomate puts cinnamon on ramen. sounds gross. smells like shit. he likes it. i refuse to try it. refuse. but you can

cheese with ramen makes it almost bearable. in my po days, i usually bought those cheep ass mac n cheese box's. cos you could eat a whole box, and be full all day.

i was going to recommend this book, because i have it:
Top Ramen Noodle Cookbook: Over 175 Delicious, Inexpensive, Quick, and Easy Recipes Using America's Favorite Noodle
and then i see that it's out of print and the cheapest used one is selling for $47.65. i'm sitting on a gold mine here. so you probably aren't going to be ordering one anytime soon. but most of the recipes call for other normal things - veggies, meat, sour cream, cottage cheese, garlic and onions, spices/seasonings, canned cream soups, tomatoes, etc. it helps if you have a little cooking skill to really make the most of it. i went through a phase of cooking the noodles per normal, draining, and then stir frying with veggies and sauce. just buy a bag of frozen store brand stir fry vegetables to keep on hand and use what you need. maybe add a little cooked bok once in a while. watch for sales on boneless thighs and freeze some for later. or you could try substituting hot dogs.

one day while i was meant to be in school my cousin and i went on an entire rampage of doing this exact scam. we hit every fast food joint in the area: KFC, burger king, mcdonalds, wendys.....

we just drove around all day picking up free junk food and scoffing it. ah, those were the days. bored, skipping school and cruising the shitty suburbs.

I'm a very basic, "cook to survive" kinda guy, so my ramen is usually just ramen... but I DO have a kick-ass solution for that other staple of destitute-ness, KD. at the add-butter/margerine stage, add salsa instead. As much or as little as you like. Then, a dash of Tabasco. Bon apetit.
