Rumors of erratic and destructive behavior have hounded actress Natasha Lyonne (of the American Pie films, and, more recently, Blade: Trinity) over the last year, including an interview in the May issue of Jane magazine, where her former friend and landlord accused her of terrorizing tenants and destroying property, and later evicted her. Lyonne has been more or less missing since that eviction, but has resurfaced, according to the New York Post, in a hospital, severely ill.

Natasha, 26, is struggling to survive in New York City's Beth Israel Hospital intensive care.

Reportedly, Natasha is suffering from hepatitis C, a heart infection, a collapsed lung and is covered in track marks.

She's also undergoing methadone treatment — typically used to help heroin users.

“I read the article. I'm crying actually. It's terrible, you know. It's my little girl,” Natasha's dad Aaron Braunstein told Access Hollywood. “It's a terrible tragedy, but she's going to get better. We're praying for her and she's a tough girl.”

Aaron visited his daughter one week ago and he thinks she may have contracted the hepatitis C while shooting the movie “The Grey Zone.”

“As we see in the paper, she's probably with the wrong crowd,” he added. “The main thing, she picked up the liver thing in Bulgaria during ‘The Grey Zone.’”

She's one of the better, more interesting young actors working today, which makes all of this surprising, and very sad. My thoughts go out to her and her family.

Jesus, those things could each seperately really fuck someone's day up. How the hell do you get all of those things at once?

That Jane article was disturbing. Not because of her behaviour, but because it was obvious something was going horribly wrong with her and everyone around her decided she was just being an obnoxious shit and nothing more.

Here's to hoping she gets cleaned up and healthy.

I had a run in with her at a local bar almost a year ago. She wasn't in good shape then, and it sounds like it only got worse.

Very sad, yet not surprising. She is only human and I know I would be all fucked up if I lived in her world.

I hope she recovers.

I read the same article and I thought it was clear they knew something was deeply wrong. The writer (Michael Rappaport) didn't brand her a drug addict, but he painted a pretty good picture. The woman didn't want help.

that's crazy. it really bothers me, that everyone around her just sort of let her get more & more fucked up.

It happens to people all the time. And I'm guessing her profession made her a bit more unapproachable about it.

Plus, I know I don't know her particular situation but I'd be willing to bet an agent would look the other way if they thought their star might lose a few lbs. Our society is messed up.

well, when most of the press photo's I've seen of here reminded me of mugshots of junkies, I'm not surpised.
if you do heroin, you pay the price. it's not cheap for most.

That fucking sucks. She's a great actress. And she's cute as hell too.

I'd pray for her, but I'm an agnostic.

What're some good films she was in? I doubt you all like her because of her roles in American Pie and Blade: Trinity.

Slums of Beverly Hills was pretty good.

I met her at the Roost once. I think we were there on some SG get together thing and her and some friends were at the table next to ours. I had to keep stepping over her and she made some joke about me getting fresh with her and she handed me my jacket that I almost left behind when I was leaving. She was nicer than some of the people I was with!

The sad thing about junkies is that they used to be people, and they still look enough like it for us to have them same empathy that we would for a person. Seriously, you can't help them. As I recall the Jane article, Rappaport was MORE than patient and helpful to her, and she shit on him and his home. As usual it was as if people were throwing the junkie a life preserver and she was using it to tie them up and rob them before jumping overboard again.

^^ I think maybe I overlooked a lot of the "help" that had been offered to her as the article stated, because I was kind of mortified that he was given this opportunity to air out someone else's (and his own) dirty laundry in a magazine article. It just seemed really trashy and cruel, on his and Jane's parts.
