Trek for consistency and appeal to adulthood but Wars for childhood memories. The Star Wars prequels killed it.

I"m a fan of both. I was 10 years old when Star Wars debuted in the movie theaters in '77 and the original syndicated Star Trek episodes were already a constant fixture on our local channel. I was pretty much glued to both.

If you asked me which is my bigger preference, easily I say Star Wars. The original concept of Luke, Leia and Darth set the bar. Sure Star Trek was groundbreaking in it's own right as far as science fiction goes, but when Star Wars came out, they took the technology of the X Wing, Millennium Falcon, Star Destroyer and Death Star farther than what Star Trek could imagine.

Star Trek broke ground with the racial barriers and what were social issues for it's time, but Star Wars had more intriguing characters as opposed to Star Trek. It was only until the motion picture 'til they added more depth to Kirk, Spock and the rest of the crew.

Also I base the comparison on their strengths. The three classic Star Wars movies and the Star Trek. television series along with the movies that followed. I wasn't a big freak of the Star Trek. spin off's like Next Generation or Deep Space Nine

In my childhood Star Wars ruled my mind but Star Trek was also a love of mine. After the Star Wars movies were out for a few years I started watching Star Trek more because the show was being re-run and then The Next Generation really got me going. At that point I was a mojor trekkie and Star wars had fallen to the background. Then the Star Wars movies were re-released and I went back to my childhood love. Deep Space Nine and Voyager just didn't grab my attention the way the first two series did and the new Star wars trilogy while dissapointing I still enjoyed. Since seeing the new Star Trek movie though the scales have tipped the other way.

I'm a huge fan of both but it really depends on which one I would prefer. As little as a year ago I would have said Star Wars but now I say Star Trek.

Star Trek - hand's down. I've enjoyed all of the series and the last movie was outstanding. Star Wars started out great then fizzled.

I used to love that show! Then I found out submarines look nothing even close to that frown

I used to think that Star Wars as always more popular to other people when I was a child, and it was also a refreshing break from the diplomatic conversations of Star Trek. Though I do admit I was more of a Trek fan, and still am, the various TV incarnations wore me out, and eventually I stopped watching them.

The newest Trek movie totally owned anything George Lucas can pull, or has pulled, out of his hat.
