As long as the participants gave their consent before their deaths of course it's ethical, but if the exhibit hails from China, who knows.
You didn't read the article. They didn't give their consent. The bodies used in the display belonged to unidentified or unclaimed deceased persons.

I've been to this exhibit, it's pretty fucking cool. but then I heard stories on the news about some of the bodies "leaking" and stuff about how the creator of the exhibit lied about it being sponsored by bejing university, he is keeping all the money himself and bought the bodies illegally and transported them illegally into the US. so if that's true, then the answer is no to the ethical question, which makes me feel kinda dirty. I mean, those people didn't give permission to do this at all, would you want your body on display for the masses?
It looks REALLY similar to this museum in Florence called "Museo Zoologico de Specola." Except those were all done in wax. And they're around 250 years old. But other'n that, looks about the same.
Hmm, I guess I see the potential ethical conflict, but then again, if they are discarded and/or unidentified remains, I don't see who would really have standing to actually raise a complaint. It is a very interesting display, that would probably weird me out though.

Did you seriously just reference the standing doctrine?
I don't think it's ethical from the point of view that the bodies of these people were deemed 'worthless'. They had no friends, families, or enough personal wealth to essentially protect their interests, so do what you want with them? Just goes to show how little autonomy vulnerable people have. It's so disrespectful and predatory.
Better than wormfood. But if my friends want to deepfry me stuffed with twinkies, I hope I'm delicious. what might be nicer though, is if they posed my cadaver like superman flying.or my balls as paperweights.
