If you're sitting at a desk with a headache, you can rest the side of your neck on your palm while using your elbow to hold you up: you're not choking yourself; just a little bit of compression slows the blood flow to your brain to where ever the swelling might be in your dome-piece. Also, water and food help, unless you've got one of those nasty headaches from smoking too many cigarettes in a day... those i haven't figured out how to get rid of yet.

*sigh* *shakes head* you REALLY hate to be contradicted huh?

I could find a lot of things on the internet that may be misinformation....but NOT saying your link is........heaven forbid........
I'll stick to what my education/ professors taught me, but hey, keep squeezin' if it works for ya.
All I can say is the dozen or so massage therapist that taught me for 2 1/2 yrs, the neurologist who taught the neurology portion, the doctor who taught anatomy and physiology, the hydro therapist AND the reflexologist, ALL disregared this as an effective treatment

What I hate more than being contradicted is being patronized.
Please quit arguing with me about my methods for curing headaches. You tell me my suggestion is a load of shit, and I (silly me) defended myself. It sounds to me like you are the one who can't handle a differing opinion. NO OFFENSE or anything. tongue

How to Use Shiatsu for a Tension Headache
Tension headaches are often triggered by excess work and/or excess emotional stress that continue over a period of time, leaving your body tense and fatigued. Use the following shiatsu points along the base of the skull and on the neck to release chronic muscle tension, calm the nervous system and promote the flow of congested energy down and out of the head.

Tension Release Points

Steps:
1. Clear the congestion and tension from your head by applying pressure to the central calming point on the top of your head. Place your thumbs on the tops of your ears, bring your index fingers one over the other on the top of your head and apply pressure.

2. Apply pressure to the point at the web between your thumb and index finger on the back side of your hand to release tension in the jaw, neck and shoulders. Press toward your index finger with the pad of your opposite thumb.

3. Slide your middle finger to the area on top of the foot between the first and second toes where the small bones merge. Apply gentle pressure and movement to promote the smooth flow of energy, to release muscle cramps and spasms and to release tension.

apparently the placebo effect works for a lot of people.

yeah, because twelve people and a few doctors should definitely carry more weight than thousands of acupunturists, massage therapists, reflexologists, and doctors. whatever

I use the thumb pressure point, as well....and I was treated at the mayo clinic for two years for migraines. drug after drug after drug failed, and then a new neurologist on staff showed me about the various pressure points. if I realize the migraine is coming soon enough, I can prevent it with the thumb pressure.

sometimes excedrin tension or migraine works for me..sometimes it doesnt
a sure fire way is to lay down in bed..curl up in a ball..put the covers over you...turn a fan on.make sure theres no light in the room...and just find that place ..get anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours of sleep...and usually when you wake up its gone

You're screwed...headaches are nearly impossible to get rid of, it's a scientific fact. My best friend gets headaches all the time. Sometimes he uses those heated pads on his neck, says those help somewhat. He actually bitches about his headaches all the time. I usually end up getting annoyed and fist him in the nuts. Ironically that seems to help distract him from his headaches. Since you don't have nuts, I would suggest that you try those heat pad things and some nice analgesics.

Oh, and consider yourself oogled.

i have two bulging disks in my lower neck...go to the doctor and get a perscription for naproxen...it is an anti-spasmodic, and the only non-narcotic drug that helps me...it shouldn't be too hard to get either, they give it to women for mentrual cramps too

excedrin for certain. i get migranes and am on medication for those but the only thing that gets rid of my headache when i do get one is excedrin.

all of them are the same... they market them in different boxes but one time (at band camp, hahaha) i read the ingredients in the tension headache one and the extra strength one and they were EXACTLY THE SAME.

go get some excedrin... it has caffeine in it which is what really kicks the headache... drink it down with a coke or mountain dew for that extra caffeine kick.

good luck! take care!
