I clicked on the link prepared to defend the guy, but the cash only thing combined with

Please No Local Pickups!

is pretty shady.

I was just about to comment on that. I can't think of a good reason for not allowing no local pickups, at least not one that doesn't involve ripping off the buyer.

I bought a couple of dvd's and sent payment. Haven't heard anything back and now the seller is "NO LONGER A REGISTERED MEMBER". Any suggestions? I sent a money order for payment and it has been cashed already. mad

Could be.

But I think you're more forgiving, and less suspicious than I.

Is it really worth it if the shipping is five and a half times the item cost?

If you do pay in cash then why does he wait 72 hours before shipping the item once the cash has been received?

In case it's pixie cash that turns into leaves on the way home perhaps?

I mean, seriously, cash is cash...

Unless it takes 72 hours to perform tests on the cash to see if it's been handled by aliens... or 'the man'...

you mean, you actually put cash between two pieces of paper, put it in an envelope, and stuck it in the mail?

The only way to raise the game now is to find an auction that states payment is by dead letter drop.

These sellers are completely, completely and completely... bizarre... I haven't ever seen anything like this, there are simple guidelines for ebaying (for people who are clueless)

#1 Do NOT buy with cash

#2 Do NOT buy from someone with a bad rep

#3 CHECK THE REP!!!!

#4 Use Paypal if you ABSOLUTELY need the item and you feel there is some risk incolved. Oh... and for this method READ THE BUYERS PROTECTION POLICY FIRST!!!!!

*Edited due to the TYPO*

#5 USE BRAIN. If you feel like your going to get screwed... you're probably right.

Tried filing a claim against them? if you would have used papal, you could file a claim with paypal. I dropped a claim one time becuase the seller finally agreed to refund me. He didn't. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Never drop a claim no matter what a seller says they'll do.

1) maybe he's paranoid not everybody has a checking account

2) wants to meet the buyer

3) worried the buyer may not show up for pick-up or get mugged

4) the getting worked goes both ways buyer, seller i had times when the winner didn't send payment, if ya not gonna buy it don't bid or share your ebay account.

never send cash in the mail.

can you legitmately insure cash in the mail?
