I have 2 roommates. One who moved in less than a month ago excitedly tells me last week (so this is barely 3 weeks of living here) that she's already gotten a bunch of responses to her craigslist ad................looking for a new roommate!

Whut you ask? She put up an ad, without discussing anything with me, for someone to replace my other roommate who's been here for 4 months!!!

surreal

When I told her I was outraged she said simply "I don't like her and I want to rent her room." This pissed me off even more.

1. What I'd like feedback on is first---if you could give me a neutral response b/c mine was that I wanted to tear the flesh off of her face with my teeth for some reason. So I would appreciate a neutral standpoint on this action of hers, and I will respond to any dialogue.

2. I'd like any opinions or advice b/c now we are not speaking and I need to address this with her b/c now I personally feel uncomfortable living with someone who would do something like this. What opinions should I have?

3. Finally, the clincher is I made this girl sign the lease with me for my personal security. While this would seemingly balance power, this has been my house for over a year and I can have the landlord release her from it. If I hadn't had her sign, shit I would've told her to keep the ad open for when I replace her. I also don't feel comfortable having someone jsut waltz in here and think this is how anyone treats roommates. puke

I appreciate any help in advance. smile kiss

That's simply uncalled for. She "evicted" your other roommate without any kind of warning or discussion. What else do you think she's capable of doing?

The answer is: Anything.

Boot her before you lose possessions, or she throws a wild party and breaks stuff, or you find money missing from your wallet, or whatever.

The point is: She has to go. Now.

Whenever Sorcha and/or Clara answer your thread, the need for further discussion ceases. She's right, of course. biggrin

O God this just made me laugh really hard, the authoritarian tone, but this is exactly what I initially thought of (of course after the flesh eating). That's in my head like, what the hell else could she be capable of? mad

Thank you for also confirming my post-cannibal reaction wasn't me thinking crazy or irrational.

This sucks, man!

That is an outrageous overstepping of bounds. If you said you can get her released from the lease, it would probably behoove you to do so. Like Sorcha said, you never know what else she'll do.

Kick her out.
You and the other roommate have been there longer so if theres a problem and someone needs to leave it has to be her.

Get rid of her now...

No she didn't but the reason I wanted neutral advice is I want to ask this girl to leave, which would entail me dealing with the landlord to release her from the lease.

However of course, kicking anyone out is a process and procedure, it's not like packing up your cubicle, so I want it to be a mature conversation where listen, she has to understand she did something too fucked up as far as roommates go and she should peacefully pack it up. Sorry.

Like I need my other roommate to be upset.

Sit her down - have a neutral party there if needed - and explain to her that just because she is on the lease doesnt mean that she can go kicking people out / renting rooms out without telling you.

You are both on the lease and all decisions need to be talked over by the 2 of you. If she cant aggree to that then get her taken off the lease.

It may be an idea to get the room mate that you like put on the lease if you can....

Forgive my insanity (given the circumstances I assume you are all sympathetic)

but I should give her the line from Muriel's Wedding that the lady yelled at the cripple in the wedding shop:

"You can't just come in here threatening brides, I don't care how unfortunate you are!"

Definitely. On the side, thank you so much people b/c I called my aunt who is also my mentor and she told me to move out! surreal If this all ends well I'll tell her that my porn community is my new mentor. tongue

sit her down and explain that the other roommate is not leaving and if she doesn't like it she can leave. explain you will happily remove her from the lease, and she is free and clear.
If that isn't good enough, remove her from the lease, and pretty much do what she was trying to do. get an ad, and explain she has to be out in 30days as her room is going to someone else. Period.

Do you like your other roommate? Did she give you reasons why she doesn't? Does the other roommate KNOW she doesn't like her and is kicking her out for no damn reason at all? How would you bring that up? "Oh, BTW, I don't like you, and so I replaced you as a roommate. Be out by 4, k?"

Anyway...who DOES that? These are the actions of the unstable.

Exactly what I think-this is the action of an unstable neanderthal.

Not only does she have no reason to dislike Stella (we go by Streetcar Named Desire as our house names; I am eternally Stanley and it seems Blanche has returned) even worse, she's only seen her twice b/c Stella works far away.

Obviously this idiot would expect me to do this dirty work as she won't even pay the rent when I asked her to last. I pay all the bills so I told her I'd like to put her in charge of walking the rent check down (4 blocks away). This month she didn't want to b/c she was making lunch.

And check this out!!! Last night I found out this moron was using Stella's room. She has 2 guests over this weekend, with nowhere for everyone to sleep. I come home and Stella's lights and AC are on but no one's in the room. I call Stella today and she says she was never home last night. I am disgusted. THIS WILL EASILY INITIATE MY CONVERSATION WITH HER NOW. puke mad

This is grounds for immediate dismissal.
