Everybody's got to pay the rent, including actors. So sometimes they take roles that they're not necessarily going to put on their resumes. What actor in what role made you the most vicariously embarassed?

[Inspired by watching Tim Curry and David Cross in Scary Movie 2 on Comedy Central just now.]

I might have to disqualify DeNiro at this point. He's done so many bad movies that it's got to be just some sort of sick fetish. He can't possibly need the money that bad.

With all the movies Michael Caine's been in, he must have hell of bills to pay. It amazes me that he is so revered as a serious actor.

Not a critic, but simply CBS-TV. How unspecific is that? For all we now it could have been a quote from a drunken janitor that happens to work for CBS.

I have a theory about critic quotes and movies. It goes like this: the quality of the movie is proportional to the prominence of the critic's name in the ads as compared to the size of the quote. Example: "THE NEW YORK TIMES says.." vs.

"Dumb & Dumberer is better than Citizen Kane."

That's exactly how I would imagine Bill Lumbergh posting. Sorry about my lil deviation there.

Okay, so how about Bill Murray in Garfield?

Shit, that wasn't even slumming it. That was straight-up shameful desperation. No other explanation. frown

Did you get the memo about your TPS report? tongue Seriously, though, we were bickering a lot about bands doing commercials (Sir Mix-A-Lot and Steve Earle started the discussions) and I was just saying I was a bit sick of it. Anyway. Bill Murray in Garfield is a great example. Someone must've black-mailed him into that.

i think any actor who plays in a live--action cartoon flick is qualified, particularly if said flick has an animated sidekick.

I think Owen Wilson should get some sort of award for this category. "The Best Thing In Terrible Movies" award.

That would be Operation Dumbo Drop. Denis Leary was in that too. He was interviewed in an issue of Entertainment Weekly joking about what kept him, Ray, and Danny going was pictures of property they were going to buy w/the $$$ from the movie.

I heard they're shelving Pink Panther for a year because remakes have already lost way too much money this summer. Nice. whatever

No. Nothing could be sadder than a comic genius reduced to acting like a young black guy.

Okay, I'll have to revise. Anything Eddie Murphy has PHYSICALLY acted in the past 8 years.

Remember that Neutron movie he was in that cost a billion and didn't make a million?
