Ok, its tin foil hat time BUT I think this may have been done on purpose as a kind of "viral marketing" experiment. That may not be the proper word. What I am saying is, the Family Guy DVD's were among the best sellers and broke a few records at the time. This got the show back on the air. Now that the movie is leaked, everyone has two months to wonder if the DVD will still sell well. I am just considering that this is an intentional experiment. Why would they do that at risk of a loss? I'm wondering if the person who leaked it is simply not a fan and hoping sales will not be good and eventually, there will be no reason to keep the show. There are alot of people who hate how offensive it is. All of my remarks are speculation at best, so don't take me seriously. Yet, I am curious what others think.

I saw the movie and laughed. I am a fan and I intend to buy the DVD upon release. Most Adult Swim cartoons are available on the Internet right now but still. I buy the products simply because I am a fan of animation and I want them to make more. Am I the exception because I'm a devoted fan? Or will this be the rule? I urge all of you who really like the show, to buy the DVD upon release.

Will you buy the movie DVD and the season dvd that will include the movie (albeit an edited version sans uncensored opening)?

i dled it a few weeks ago its good but not great, it will be easy to censor it for tv. the reason it spread around so fast is because of torrents there alot harder to trace compared to limewire or other peer to peer, im sure the government has "spys" in the torrent community but no one has been arrested due to dled torrents afew sites have been shutdown ex. suprnova which was a great site but there are hundreds of other sites out there.

I would want a DVD copy of the uncensored version. I would buy the seasonal copy only for the other shows. I didn't know they were going to be released in that manner. So if one has to pick one or the other, I'd rather have a whole season.

Similar example: I didn't buy the Freakin Sweet collection yet. All of those episodes are in the season sets except for the whole Osama showtunes joke. I may get it in the future though, Especially if the price drops. But i think in that case, you aren't getting much more.

Another example: I bought the "uncensored" Team America. I couldn't see anything different about it except for the prolonged and disgusting sex scene. I think there was only a small difference in price but it was so disgusting, I wonder about that decision! Yet, its also a funny joke regarding uncensored versions...

Agreed, come on, it opens with a "this is a pirated movie" gag.
Also, the new season of Family Guy has been less than a smashing success from what I understand. The fact that this was released so early has generated a good amount of interest that wouldn't have been there for a standard DVD release.
I know that I've told plenty of people who'd be interested about it, and I don't think I'd have even heard about the movie if it weren't for it being leaked.

Meh....read my brief review of the movie here.

Long story short, thanks Fox, for fucking the fans. Whether we buy it, watch it on TV, or download it, we don't get the complete "movie" (ie, two mediocre episodes stretched to three with bland "extra" beginning/ending tacked onto the DVD).....the broadcast and DVD versions each have exclusive content. Remember to buy the "extended!" and "complete!" versions later that they're not explicitly mentioning!

Oh god so much complaining in one thread.

I love Family Guy but I will wait for proper media forms in which to watch it.

And on the note of people hating on Family Guy, I never used to like it when it was on TV. I finally saw an episode once it was on DVD which just made me nearly pee my pants laughing. I'm sure even your favorite band has songs you'd rather skip to hear the ones you love. You just have to find that ONE that does it for you. It's not all bad. Geez.

When Seth was asked about how he felt about his shows being leaked on the internet he said something to the degree where it was bad for Fox but good for his fans, and all he really cares about is his fans.

I doubt Fox gave Seth MacFarlane a financial return % based contract with this direct to dvd movie, so I'm sure the actual creators of the show couldn't give two shits.

If everyone who bought the DVD set had downloaded the episodes instead, it would not have been renewed.

Global Frequency was never even aired and there are now talks on bringing it back on TV because of the massive number of people downloading a screener copy of the pilot.
