I've always been a huge video game freak. "Super Mario Bros." practically raised me, on the original Nintendo console, thank-you-very-much.

Only recently have I gotten into anime, but I'm really picky. I like "Trigun" a lot, but "Fullmetal Alchemist" is by far my favorite (thank you, Cartoon Network.)

I can't play "EverQuest" in large doses or for too long, because I end up getting burned out on it. I love "Halo", but I don't like doing the scenarios. I played "Doom" a lot as a kid, and "Duke Nukem" was a favorite, as well.

Always loved "Mortal Kombat" and "Tekken." Gotta dig "Area51" arcade-style.

I will pwn you back to n00b school.

Seriously, at my Uni I'm an exec in our Gamers Guild and our female membership is remarkably high.

In fact, pretty much everyone in the club would be on SG if their birthdays would come around faster and I could get them gift memberships.

I used to go out with a girl who was a Final fantasy fanatic.
I'd be sleeping and she'd play FF.
She'd be sleeping and i'd play Legacy of Kain: (every one).

Looking at her junior high and highschool yearbooks, i could tell she used to be a dork. But it is amazing what womanhood can do for a gal: There were always some girls around, but they weren't much different - sometimes physically so- from the boys.
Some of these girls blossom. Bless'em. biggrin

i've always been this way. i started out with a sega master system followed by every nintendo system. in high school, i took programming classes and hung out on a bbs. my friends were beyond nerd. one guy was named dave iogna. say it, how can that person not be a huge nerd?

oh yeah, as far as anime goes, i don't dig it much at all. i like some of the darker stuff, like perfect blue. but most of it just doesn't interest me.

I've been a girl gamer since Atari, I grew up wih almost all major systems, I played Doom and Quake, and I loved arcades.

The people I played exclusively with....boys. I have yet to meet in person another serious girl gamer....on here, sure, tons, but in reality...not that many.

Girl gamers tend to be rare but vocal, so it's sort of hard to gauge how many of them there are. And we guys don't help matters by horndogging every girl who dares to pick up a controller in our vicinity. Every girl gamer should come equipped with one of those water spray bottles to keep us lads in check when we get sassy.

An ex-girlfriend of mine kicked my tail multiple times at StarCraft. They're out there, and bless them all.

I've been digging the games since Colecovision.... then it was all my allowance money at Gauntlet in the arcade and now I play it with my son on X-Box. Last night I finished my fourth run through Resident Evil 4.

RE4 is one damn addictive game. Everytime I finish it, I get a new weapon I want to try out, so back into the fray I go.

God bless that handcannon.

I'd rather watch console games than play them. I will buy console games to make my friends play them for my amusement. It's like a movie, except when I yell at the characters I expect them to actually do stuff (and if they don't, and it's a boyfriend at the controller, boy's going to get some quality time with the flogger for failure to obey).

Tabletop and online chat RPGs are where I do most of my actual gaming. I got started around 1994, and there were a lot of female players around on the early AOL games (old-school Neverwinter Nights and the chat-based games back when TSR was a working keyword on AOL... god I feel so old). My own observation is that being able to experiment with the genre online, behind the mask of anonymity (and safely buffered from the annoyances of horny CPMs), has led more women to branch out and play RPGs in real life. I have no idea whether that's a wider trend; it's just been my own observation.

Nice.

If you want an awesome console game to both play and watch... Destroy All Humans.

The most I've ever laughed during a game... or most anything else, really.

'Blame communists' for teh win.

Dude, my wife Rebecca is one of the coolest nerd chicks ever. As far as videogames, she plays almost nothing but RPGs: Final Fantasy, World of Warcraft, Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic (1 & 2), Tales of Symphonia (which she beat in 2 days).. If she's not playing those, she's playing some Japanese hentai arcade game on MAME. She positively skipped with glee when I bought her a Cthulhu hand puppet yesterday, and was really disappointed when she found out they had sold the copy of the boardgame we came there to buy. But then we played the CoC CCG cardgame together, and all was well. She loves adult swim, hentai, and zillions of anime, she knows way more about comic books than I ever did or ever will. Not to mention being cute and awesome. I'm a lucky fucking guy. love

I knew I wanted to play Tabletop RPGs the day I saw my guy friends playing Dungeons & Dragons.

I knew I HAD to play when the told me I couldn't as it was a MAN's game.

My husband says it's guys like that who scared away all the hot chicks.

Yeah, I pretty much can't stop... Have you seen any of the trailers or stills for RE5? I wanted to pee my pants. I told my husband that if we have to, I'm selling all our gaming systems to get the 360 so I can play.
