I think that's it! Claire has got her slightly lame compromise. Mom has got a live one.
David and Keith have a new start, with a family (and a real dad like response from
Keith), Ricardo is into accepting the real, and working with it, and Nate is really dead.
That's the end, or is it. Seriously I don't know? What do you think?

I haven't watched in so long. I don't have HBO at my apt. Nate is dead? frown I should really start renting the DVDs.

I stopped watching when it became apparent the producers' idea of "drama" was just making the characters as miserable as possible, and continuing to put them in situations that made them more miserable.

It jumped the shark last season and became a parody of itself.

Kieth is the only realistic, interesting, or rational character on that show anymore.

how did it jump the shark, you can't claim a show "jumped the shark" without producing the actual event that is on par with the Fonze jumping over a shark on water skiis. Are we talking about the time when David got "kidnapped" or the time that Claire made out with Mena Suvari, or the time that Ruth went to mexico (which was surely outdone by her smoking pot this season) or maybe we're talking about nate confronting his brother in law-in law and him shooting himself...there isn't really a single event from last season that you could consider "jumping the shark" because they were all so strange...

Well I hope it goes on forever too. If you have been following it this year
(a) it has never been more depressing, or good; and (b) last week could have
been the ending with all the strings unwound this year suddenly and sharply
pulled up tight. I love the news enough that there are three to go. One bet
Rico and David manage to rebrand the funeral home to some wild cross of serving both the gay and the latino LA community. Want to predict the fireworks in that. I
can see Rico making it; Clare making it; Ruth making it, from here. And David &
Keith. Do we care so much because we feel if these truly fucked up people can
turn it around maybe we can too? I don't know, but I thought last week was an
amazing episode in the history of one of television's most amazing shows. It will
leave it's mark on that medium forever, and I think it's accomplishment has been
great for our popular culture. But what about poor crazy, trying harder than ever
to get it right, Brenda. And her brother who could really end the season by machine
gunning the entire Fisher family.

Even more far out, I thought Deadwood finally hit its incredible dramatic potential this past season. It too became a truly amazing cock sucker of a show. Cock sucker. Cock sucker. So great that that has started a natural trend. To see a bunch of well dressed woman standing around the water cooler in some corporate office say, in Lawrence Kansas, saying cock sucker cock sucker, and laughing, and laughing could undermine the moral majority yet. Ain't I the fucking dreamer! But it so much fun!
In its own completely hideous, corrupt and violent way. The real birth of the West?
Some of us like to think so.

No fucking kidding.

Some of us live in countries where Northern Exposure's first season is still Must See TV.

My question: would they drop it here? I don't know they do.

Honestly, in my opinion, the first season was the only good one. The rest were just this soap opera that I didn't believe at all. I really thought the first season was this wonderfully funny and interesting sort of meditation on life and death. In the second, the characters started behaving bizarrely. Which was sad, because I'd gotten sort of attached to them.

Actually, the term "jump the shark" is acceptable terminology for any show that goes off the deep end -- it's not exclusive to one stupid event like the Fonz's jump.

...there isn't really a single event from last season that you could consider "jumping the shark" because they were all so strange...

You're basically proving my point here. There were a ton of incredibly bizarre and stupid events last season, all of which were a total exaggerated departure from what the show had once been. Hence, it "jumped the shark."

I know what happens at the end of the show!

The father, Nate Fisher Sr. wakes up from a 7 year coma after being hit by that bus and realizes the entire show was all just a crazy coma dream.
Thats why he kept showing up every once in a while to tell people they should stop whining since he thought he was dead in the dream.

Man, that would be so frikin awesome!! And a ripoff!!
