Think it will work? Maybe if we could get them all in one place, we could just nuke them and be done with it?

I used to have a gameboy game called Exodus. You controlled Moses as you went through a variety of Christianity themed landscapes collecting items like David's sandals and blowing up Romans and Golden Calves with the word of God (which takes the form of a giant W that fires from your staff). In between levels, answering Bible trivia grants you extra lives. Man that was an awesome game.

Get 'em all in one state, and build a wall around it. I'll donate out of every paycheck to the barbed wire fund.

There was a big write-up in the local paper about these people. While ya'll may think that they are complete wackos a lot of people here in South Carolina might just agree with them (me not being one of them mind you.) The League of the South already wants to secede and with the help of these guys they just might succeed.
We need no help in making asses of ourselves we do just fine on our own.

P.S. If any members of this organization are reading this, I hear Maryland is nice.

I'd be very happy if "they" all moved to one State. I'd also be very happy to concede that State and all of its political influence. Hell, let them secede from the Union while they're at it - I'm quite sure they'll accept my tourist dollars, in the event that I lose my faculties and elect to vacation south of Canal Street some day. tongue

Three words for anyone who thinks that their state should secede from the union: Appamatox Court House.

Or is it two words, Appamatox Courthouse? Oh well, either way, North 1, South 0.

Yeah, that's just what we need in this state, more nutjobs. whatever Hey, guys, we don't want you here either. This state is actually lovely; I just wish some of our citizens weren't so deadset on fucking it up.

Now South Carolina is populated with a tremendous amount of Christians, but do these people actually believe 50,000 people is enough to push the state to secede, or even assume control of the government here?

would this be cool if this was said about any other religious group?

In most cases, no. But we are talking specifically about Christians, so it's relatively acceptable.

Don't let 'em take North Carolina too, though. NC is a very pretty state, tobacco industry and colossal pig farms aside. Admittedly, I have quite a soft spot in my heart for it, being I grew up there...

That wouldn't bother me too much. Once they announced that this was their Holy Nation, I could try to get refugee status somewhere else. Maybe Norway.

Oi vey.

It's the extremeists that ruin it for the rest of us.

And for the record, I don't see anyone (outside of those pesky extremeists, again) suggesting we nuke all of Islam due to the ridiculous inhumanity of the marked few.

Maybe you can't pidgeon hole a Christian as much as you can't a Muslim.

Think about it.

The impression that Christianity en masse is a monolithic group of people with no internal dissension whatsoever is... simplistic. MrStitches was right, when was the last time you heard about http://www.freestateproject.org/ ?

The whole project fractured in a matter of months. According to Wikipedia there are 4,147,152 people in South Carolina. I think they'll have an opinion on implementing a Christian translation of Sharia law. As in, like, "no."

The idea of Christian persecution is near and dear to the hearts of those people, who seem to not realize that our government is run almost entirely by Christians.

This is pointless, and until they have some real greivance that goes beyond rhetoric like "restoring the US to Christian principles" (which it wasnt' when it started, and that's pretty well documented), they have no chance of even maintaining cohesion.

Even with a real greivance, it takes a lot to convince people to try to do something like secede - someone making speeches is great when you're listening but when you're getting shot at people are more likely to bail.

They'd find more luck in one of the "fly-over states" more west, too - they should take a lesson from looking at Utah.

I like their little list of problems.
They REALLY have a problem with sodomy.

And what exactly has the right to bear arms got to do with Christianity?

"Christians have actively tried to return the United States to their moral foundations for more than 30 years. We now have a professing Christian president, a Republican Congress and a Republican Supreme Court. Yet consider this:

Abortion continues against the wishes of many States
Sodomite and lesbian "marriage" is now legal in Massachusetts (and coming soon to a neighborhood near you)
Children who pray in public schools are subject to prosecution 1
Our schools continue to teach the discredited theory of Darwinian evolution 1 2
The Bible is still not welcome in schools except under unconstitutional FEDERAL guidelines
The 10 Commandments remain banned from public display
Sodomy is now legal AND celebrated as "diversity" rather than condemned as perversion
Preaching Christianity will soon be outlawed as "hate speech" 1 2 3
Fathers are denied equal rights under law in cases of child custody
Our right to keep and bear arms continues to be INFRINGED
Private homes are now subject to arbitrary government seizure"
