Do people actually do that, ever? Assuming it's not just a romantic fantasy/cliche, I'd love to hear stories.

I have always wanted to be at a wedding when something like this happened. blush

I used to fantasize about it, but the more that I think about it the more I realize that it's probably the rudest and most self-indulgent a person could do. You better have a damn good reason for doing it, is what I'm saying...

My father actually stood outside of the church- across the street when my mom got remarried- but he never entered.

No he wasn't invited at all. Her friends actually kept an eye on the door just to make sure he didn't come in- but he's not that type of person to cause a commotion.

I think I might give one of my friends orders to offer an objection, just so I could have an excuse to throw a duel into the wedding. I don't intend to have a traditional wedding...

I've been a wedding photographer/videographer for over 15 years and have never had one or heard of one from local wedding photographers. There alot of smack talk at the reception on why they married each other though! biggrin

It seems they've stopped doing the "speak now or forever hold your peace" part.

It may be a generational thing, but it's been absent from all the weddings I've been to for friends from high school and college (which is maybe five). There was one guy I really wanted to unload on, too.

Also, if anyone does this at my wedding, I'll have to rush down there and stab them right in the fucking heart.

Sorry, grandma.

The reasoning behind the objecting isn't that a long lost love can speak out against it, it's in place as a way to check if either person cannot actually be married, such as having other spouses and so on.

Well yeah, I figured as much. Those reasons are pretty boring, though.

a bunch of my friends all coughed at the same time during that part of my wedding, we found that amusing, the registrar did not and now her dissaproving look is captured for all time on the video...aaah, magic moments
