Does it bother anyone else when people start threads asking for help, then never respond when they get the advice they asked for?

Already responded once - scroll up! And thanks to those who actually posted useful info - not a chance I can afford COBRA. It was only a hairline fracture (took me a week after it happened to even bother going to the dr) so I think the odds that it healed wrong are slim to none. I think I will go to my appt next week and ask about cost - if it's too much I will follow the advice from this thread - I'll keep you updated.

Ok the evil little thing has been removed - my arm is free!!!! The boy helped me perform the procedure with a breadknife this morning - don't ask - cheap-o infomercial knife.

Now my question is how long will the wrist remain sore? I expected a little soreness since the joint has been immobile for 4 weeks - but ouch! My hand is more useless than it was while the cast was on. (And no - I didn't break my wrist so it's not that it hasn't healed.) Any advice? 24 hours? 48? 1 week? Thanks

Wrap it in an Ace bandage or put a brace on it. A lot of people I know ended up in a sling once the cast was off. You still have some healing to do, and keeping it immobile is the best idea.

Thanks! I still have a sling around here somewhere - I'll give it a try.

PLEASE be very very careful with your arm. If it was just a hairline fracture, you'll probably be okay. But when I broke my arm and they removed the first cast, they had to put on a second that I wore for an additional two weeks. Be gentle with yourself! kiss
