Between that and Inked, I'm gonna need to come up with a new way to show how much of a bad ass I am. Sheesh.

It seemed to have an innocence to it, the whole angle of opening up the store and what that takes. For my first "reality" show I could have done alot worse. I'm not familiar with "Inked"..don't watch alot of t.v.....and careful u only have like two scrotums
I thought it was pretty good in terms of accurately portraying the setting up of the shop and whatnot, but the thing that really got me was the lyrics on the girl's foot - the last line (I think) is "take me all THE way", not "take me all THAT way"...
The editing was a bit awkward in my opinion though - specifically when they were talking about the misspelling on the italian dude's arm... It really looked like they were trying to cover up who actually made the mistake.

I caught bits and pieces of the show. It seemed okay, but I was wondering what was up with the RHCP lyrics. I instantly said, "Shouldn't that be 'all THE way'?" to my wife. Yup. Nothing fucks up a pretty good tattoo like misquoting or misspelling. You would hope someone would pick up on that. I know its usually the clients responsibility to provide the text, but thats one of the few Chili Peppers songs that gets a lot of air play.
I missed the deal with the guys arm. Another mishap on the first show? Yikes!
I thought the tattoo was mispelled by the guy getting the tat, and not the artist....either way, he fixed it up pretty well. I was going back and forth between this show and Inked so I only caught certain parts. This show seems to be the better of the two for some reason.
Miami Ink is trash. OMGGGGGG it kills me. Its like OCC just with tattooing. The fights/arguing are all staged and I can't even watch it. Damn!! Oh and I think one of these episodes Yoji should stand up and kick Ami's ass. Thats will be the episode I am watching right there. Chris Garver is the best in the shop. I still think though it is a total expolitation of the tattoo culture. If they were going to make a show it should of been like a biker build off type shit. Make two artists go head to head and see whos work is better in the set time period. Or do it like every week it is a new shop and new artists but use like a few different shops and tie that shit together. Fuck man I should be a writer. I could make millions. Thats my opinion ok laterrrrrrrrrrr

Total exploitation of tattoo culture? What the fuck is so sacred about tattoo culture in the first place? And what is tattoo culture anyway. Anyone can get a tattoo it's not like anyone owns tattooing. Except for the pacific islanders who invented the shit.

Exploitation schmexploitation I say.
I'd say that too if I was better at tongue twisters.

And I wouldn't even give the Maori complete ownership, as tattooing was around before them; they did influence modern tattooing, though. Ötzi the Iceman, who died sometime around 3300 BCE, has 57 tattoos. So, it's a pretty old custom.
But what I was really wondering about was what fights? I remember watching last night thinking, "Hey, at least this isn't like OCC; they aren't fighting with each other all the time."

I disagree. It's standard to have the client write down exactly what they want their tattoo to say, that way if there is a misspelling it's not the tattooers fault. They showed Ami having the guy write down the word. It's the clients fault as far as I'm concerned, end of story.
And as far as the girl with the foot tattoo; does anybody else think it's wierd that she got a song about heroin in memory of her brother? I wonder if she even knows that's what it's about.
