So I imagine some of you have heard of eHarmony.com before. I saw them on a tv commercial long ago, and didn't pay it any attention. It's one of those match-up websites that claims they can match you with someone who's perfect for you, something about 29 levels, they say they have a huge success rate, a lot of their customers end up getting married, blah, blah, blah. One day, just for shits and giggles and because I was bored, I decided to take the free personality profile test they have. So after about half an hour, I finally get done with it, and I get a message that says something along the lines of, "Sorry, you don't fit into any of our categories, and we won't be able to match you with confidence that you'll have a good relationship. We just felt we should tell you now, because we're not even going to try."

That's just so amazingly ridiculous, that could ony happen to me, I swear. I didn't even want to see any matches, I just wanted to see what the test had to say, but then they give me that unmatchable nonsense. I swear, I'm probably the only person that they were like, "You know what, there's no way there's a woman out there for you, go away."

"We can come up with the best matches and relationships." KISS MY DICK!

Sorry, just ranting. Have any of you ever had an experience with thier "service"?

Same thing happened to me. I was pissed, having wasted so much of my time filling out that profile.

I wish they had some sort of notice at the beginning of the test that said 20% of the people that take it will be "unmatchable", so people can decide whether or not they want to waste their time or not.

Fuck eHarmony!

thats kind funny, I did the profile and it was amazingly close to how I (and others) see me...
I was given 30 matches over a month with their info....I thought it was pretty accurate - the people profiles they sent me.....

hope this doesn't piss you off more

i've never personally used the site, but from what i've heard it is actually all about matching people up by their religious affectation, which, perhaps in your cases, do not apply. not having seen the questions i don't know if there's a "Do you worship Satan?" but i'd be tempted to answer yes to see if they send a bunch of nuns with rulers round to my apartment...

Yeah, I heard you get that unmatchability thing if you say you don't believe in God or that you wanna romp with the same sex.

I didn't know that, but it explains why all the matches they found for me were based on my "strong spirtitual blah blah" instead of the things that are actually important to me (art, writing, getting laid, movies, etc.)

I never actually joined, but I filled out the profile thing, then let them send me matched for a while. None of them seemed to match-up with any answers I had given.

What's worse that eHarmony?

GREAT EXPECTATIONS!!!!

My boyfriend's exwife signed up for it. I figured it was like Match or whatever and asked her one day if it was just a monthly fee and how much did she pay. I was blown the fuck over when she told me the deal with that site. She paid for a three year membership and paid... get this....

FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!

surreal

I still can't believe anyone actually does that shit.

For five thousand dollars somebody from the company better come over and keep me company on the nights when they don't find me a date.

I went through the whole screening process for this place. Then they told me how much it costs for the service. I ended up talking them down to $850. And then I walked out the door, and told them it was still out of my price range. I thought it was funny, but they left me some fairly rude messages the next day.

See, that's just the thing. I have no homotendencies, in fact, I'm straight as a grizzlie's dick. I also answered that I'm "spiritual", or whatever the question was. I'm pretty sure I conformed to the christian parameters, but nope, sorry, I lose.

Oh, and to those of you that said you had matches, no worries. I hold no ill will for those that are apparently normal people. I'm just glad to see that I'm not the only one this happened to. As I said, I was just doing the test out of curiosity, but you know, if they had told me that some people can't be matched in the begining, I would have known right away that I would be one of them.

But the profile they gave me was fairly accurate, but then, they ask you enough fucking questions.

I don't know about eHarmony, but my sister met who would be her husband on Match.com.

Actually... now that I think about it... everyone around me met some dodgy way... My brother picked up an Australian girl in a bar in Osaka, now they're married. My mom placed a personals ad in the Reader (Chicago free newspaper), met my dad...

Fuckin' ew.

I actually joined Great Expectations years and years ago when I first moved to Houston in '95

Because I was so young then (19) I fell into a age group they were desperate to have join, and I joined for very little money (maybe $500 for 3 years or something like that). All that said, I was naive then. It was mostly a waste of time. There were a lot of girls there just looking for free dinners.

*shrug*

Wow, really? Why don't they ever say that in their commercials? Crazy. That's sort of misleading.

That would be somewhat irritating. But what do you care, if you did it "for shits and giggles"? It cured your momentary boredom, did it not?
