Chuck Palahniuk has been a major focal point of SuicideGirls and members since the beginning. Since his debut novel, Fight Club, was turned into a movie in 1999 Palahniuk has becomes a major literary force. His new book, Haunted, is a series of short stories connected by the idea of a writer’s retreat. My favorite story is Guts about a horny 13 year old, a swimming pool’s intake valve and the taste of calamari.

It doesn't get any classier than Chuck P, I ordered this hard cover of fight Club for my girl, from a book store he lives next to, he stops in once a month to personally inscribe copies of his books.

Can't beat that.

Great interview.

I've been reading Chuck for a while now, gave him a notebook to write in at one of his signings and in response he sent me one of his infamous packages.

From what i've seen of him he's a great guy, but it sounds like he's getting sick of all the attention directed towards himself lately. The poor bastard is so damn charming that he's sort of turning into his celebrity character from survivor. The celebrity machine is spinning wildly to the point where my guess is he's just going to have to drop off the face of the earth to stop it.

His work has been suffering too, this latest novel is just a re-issue of the same themes in all his books. And this the first short story compelation I've ever read where every character speaks in the same voice.

I really feel for the guy and have a ton of respect for him so when I read this interview it really sounded like he was either having a bad day or just things lately have generally been bad.

i'm in the process of reading 'haunted' right now. i think it's great and chuck....in a class of his own.

random fact: a friend of mine and i talked to him at a reading and asked him what the ugliest part of his body was and he said he has a birth mark on his foot that's pretty ugly.

I would love to see the stories that he leaves out of his books. The one's that he says are way worse than the one's he puts in. I just finished Choke again and I finally got it. Awesome writer.

I got an advanced copy of the new book. That swimming pool story made me laugh. The character was more worried about impregnating his sister and mother than the fact his intestines were being ripped out. HAHAHA. Chuck always entertains.

Diary? A movie? That's one of my top 3 favourite books of all time. I musta bought a dozen copies to give to people. I even gave one to my mother.

Man.

I hope they do a good job at it. I must add though, that I was rather disappointed to find nothing about Hershel Burke chairs in any text or website. I was so hoping it was a real chair.

If it does come close to existing, and anyone can send me an image, please do.

I love Chuck Palahniuk. I can't wait for more works to come.

Haunted has been my least favorite book so far though.

i just bought haunted after reading this article - i've been really impressed with his work so far and am kind of dis-heartened to hear others say this is his poorest effort but short stories are my favorite and perhaps i'll like it anyway

Haunted was mixed bag.
Big ol' gradual worse, rather then bigger, greater, omfg.

Blow my mind Chuck, don't appeal to my sensibilities.
You've got the ability to go all Doestovesky on me, fucking do it damn it.

Also: he won't personalize library books. I tried, and it didn't look like he appreciated it..
I was never a hey sign this.. proof that i've encountered someone important to me kinda guy.

Just a nice signature and a couple of stamps.. sitting in the local book hole.

Entertaining interview. I haven't gotten around to picking up Haunted yet, so I can't comment on that.

I just joined up with www.chuckpalahniuk.net for his instructional essays and I'm finding them helpful.

Anyway, what's this "coming out of the closet" business? Was he exposed as gay? I missed something. If somebody wrote a piece on that and it wasn't Chuck, that's a real assholish thing to do.
