Crispin Glover has long been a hero to many odd people. His books, Rat Catching, Oak-Mot and What it is, and how it is done have long been sought out by collectors because they have given the most honest look into his wild mind. But his directorial debut, What is It? may supplant that notion. I saw What is It? at the Anthology Film Archives and it was a real eye opener. I had heard it was weird, different, frustrating, bizarre and even brilliant; but it’s so far from the mainstream that it almost...

WOW! I have not met many people who know anything about RAT CATCHING (Love the L'il Red Book!), OAK-MOT, and Now...WHAT IS IT?!!!

I have been waiting to see this film since I read all about it in APOCALYPSE CULTURE: VOLUME II, and It certainly looks very odd, considering that this is the poster...

...And the fact that Adam Parfrey(In Blackface, nonetheless), and two 'special' individuals, Lynne Connelly, and Ricky Whitman, This film really wobbles on boundries, But what can u expect from a guy who is not only a friggin genius, and VERY cool...If you are cool to him first, (Met him when he screened his last indy pic...) who has not only Kicked David Letterman, but also has been in some of the best films...(RIVER'S EDGE,
FRIDAY THE 13th:, Final Chapter, and ironically a movie about Rats named WILLARD, which he is great in) But I cannot even begin to describe his rare ep that was released in the 80's...That he published his home phone number on, daring you to figure out a Riddle on the sleeve...I just think he is one of the most curious figures we have, as far as Enigmatic folks go...Plus, he is very handsome to boot!

Thanks SO Much for doin the Interview...Crispin H. should be on everyones list of people to watch...

crispin glover has always been phenomenally intriguing to me. thank you for seeking him out and giving him the opportunity to spout off about his film in this generally non-judgemental forum. great article.

I met him on the set of Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. He's quite witty and charming... and a quick flash of that grin made my heart pound wildly.

I love you Crispin.

I had heard a rumor cirulating through the comic book stores that crispin glover is being pursued to play the Joker in the next installment of batman. I know its to soon to even think of casting that movie...but god damn that smile white makeup green hair....murderous rampage gets me moist

Best quote ever?

Daniel Robert Epstein: As a director how do you get a snail or any actor to come out of their shell?

CG: I don’t feel great about killing the snails in the movie.

I think so.

i met crispin once, at an art opening at la luz de jesus by norbert cox. he had a broken arm and was very shy, but eminently likeable.

people have told me i look and act like him ever since my teenage years. while i am my own person, i've always had great respect for crispin. i wish there were more people like him. plus, he's a book artist as well. let's hope he gets the opportunity to finish the what is it? tryptich.

Glover has such a bizarre and incredible imagination. I really want to see What Is It, although I know I'm not going to have a clue what it is.

My oldest friend (given name is Scott Young - a musician and actor) and Crispin were neighbors and friends back in Hollywood in the mid to late 1980s, and one of the funnier memories I have of that time period is calling Crispin's home answering machine and hearing his synopsis of "Rat Catching" on the outgoing message, along with information as to how to buy it. He was a one-man cottage industry of the avant-garde and it's reassuring to know that 20 years later he is still keeping it real.

I actually had the opportunity to see this film a while back on one of his spoken word tours, and it was incredible. Some people loved it, and some disliked it so much they got up and left the theatre. It's too bad this isn't available on DVD. But then again, that might delude the surrealistic quality one feels once they have seen it, gone home, and stayed up all night thinking about it...

Found this on ebay, on a pillowcase:
.
I wouldn't go that far but Crispin Glover is my favourite actor/all-around artist/entertainer/personality of all time.
And he is very sexy as well.

I wonder if Nikki Sixxx and Geddy Lee won? And if so, what did they win? confused

Great interview though - he is so very verbose. He'd be perfect for the Joker in the Batman Begins sequel, but given his views on conventional cinema in that interview, I just don't think he's going to go for it.
