"You're really quiet"

I hate it when you're a socially quiet person-a loner-and people tell you "you're quite. you don't talk." I don't!? Oh my God, thank you for telling me!!!

i hear that! people who say that shit remind me of why i never talk to people in the first place.

The first thing that made me think of was "necrophiliac pillow talk".

I have issues.

Yes, its like you must say 400 hundreds words a minute to hold anyone's attention. If I've got something to say, I'll say it. Otherwise feel free to pollute the room with your own voice all you want.

me too. I'm not even a loner per se. I just talk when i have something I want to say, and don't talk when i don't. I don't talk just to hear my own voice. I am really more of a listener.

I also get told that a lot in bed. I don't know how to respond to that. I mean, do they want me to start making a lot of fake moaning noises?

I prefer sitting quietly, it makes some people uncomfortable.

I get that a lot, even when I feel like I'm actively participating in a conversation -- I guess even then, I end up spending far more time thinking things over than actually, you know, saying them...

That's so annoying. And usually just results in me being quieter.

It seems to me it's more likely a distaste for someone stating the glaringly obvious. Like someone telling you earnestly: "Hey, you know, you have brown hair."

You know how I can tell people I really am connected to, they're the ones with whom I can sit down with at a bar or a coffee shop, or in my living room for long periods and we don't feel like we have to make conversation.

I've gotten "can you be really quiet ?" before.

ha, i hate that too. usually people that talk the most with lots of nothing to say, are the ones who usually say that sort of thing.

and i really hate it if i'm wearing a jacket or long-sleeves or something, and it's even a slight bit hot outside, and people come up to me and say "aren't you hot in that?" i want to punch those people in the face. "oh god yes, i am hot. and i needed you to remind me of it. thank god you came along or i would have melted! and i'm too socially inept to know how to take off my clothes when it gets hot without someone else's involvement! mind your own fucking business and worry about whether or not you are personally warm or not!"

If I've just met someone and they point out how quiet I am, it usually doesn't bother me much.

It's when you've known the person forever, and they always have to say something about it. Or try to be oh, so clever and say things like "Nice talking to you!". I also love it when someonefeels the need to yell "JUST SHUT UP, SAM."randomly, while I'm thinking of what a douche they are.

I know it's pretty hard to believe, isn't it.
