What would make the world happier for you? How would people change their behaviours? Tell me some things that would give you that "all is well with the world" feeling.

For me, people should:
1. stop hurting each other
2. laugh, kiss, and cuddle more often
3. Get over themselves

1. If people saw themselves in others.
2. People listened to that little voice in their head, called a conscience.
3. If all women were as lovely as the SGs love

more storytelling. how come no one just wanders around telling stories anymore. i tend to think that when bards and wandering tale tellers vanished the world became a sadder place.

stop hearing and start listening.

i think the world would be an entirely different place if everyone wasn't so eager to speak of themselves and instead directed that energy into learning all they can about someone else. everyone has a story...most just never have the chance to tell it...or at least have the opportunity of an audience who actually takes a genuine interest.

5. said pets are SPAYED and NEUTERED.

6. more LISTENING, and not just plain hearing.

I love telling stories, some real, some made up. I put them in my journal.

I think if there was more silence, the world would be better. I think if people were more polite but at the same time more honest, it would be far better as well.

I forgot one thing: If people learned to love themselves, completely. I think a lot of problems are caused when people do not truly love themselves and project their insecurities onto others, through blame or labeling or whatever. We can't relate to others in a healthy way until we learn to love and be gentle with ourselves.

Also, if people realized the world in fact revolves around a rose on a very small distant planet love ...and not themselves. biggrin

great minds think alike, zAh? wink

i also agree with dia...we are in dire need of some honesty. good or bad. the remarkable ability to be honest not only to others, but most importantly with yourself, has been totally lost on our generation i think.

and let's not foget compassion. pure, genuine, compassion for those trusting enough to open up to others...but not in the form of pitty. in the long run, a knowing squeeze of someone's hand is much more necessary than the typical 'there, there' responses.

i could go on for days about this topic...

Is that from Oprah, or is it from a Maya Angelou speech?

Not at all. She does suck, though.

Plus what comes outta my pretty little head has nothing to do with her. Or Maya Angelou for that matter.

Thinking would help. Not thinking about what this celeb did or what he did or what she did, but thinking about bigger things. Thinking about the universe, thinking about love and beauty. Not thinking of them as they are spoon-fed to you through the TV(etc) but really thinking about them about how you actually have ideas about what you think and don't need to be told. Too many people spend too much time thinking about negativity that they train themselve to feel that is all there is to think about. That needs to go.

I guess this is really just a generalization of a lot of what has already been said, but I felt that the thinking part should be stressed because it feels like too many people are mulling through life with their brains set to standby.

Yes, I agree with YemYam. Many people of this site weem to be really making their life what they want it to be while also being a positive energy.

I find many poeple on this site to be excellent rolemodels for my own self-actualization. biggrin
