i dunno. it looks like someone gave him too much money and a makeup team that's too good. part of the freakyness of the old ones was their non-expicit nature, where a lot was left to the imagination.

we'll see.

i mean compared to modern horror films.. a lot of the scaryness was in the EXTREME tension and the waiting for things to happen.

Soon the definition of zombie, as it applies to the movies, will simply be a person with bad skin that wants to kill everybody else.

umm, day of the dead is one of the goriest horror films of all time. they released it unrated to keep it away from an nc17. there were parts of that where i almost felt ill. dawn of the dead isn't far behind.

and i think it's coming out on the 17th. they moved the release date up.

editted to add: upon consideration, the zombies using guns thing makes sense for romero's world; in day of the dead, they were trying to domesticate zombies, and one in particular (bub) was relearning how to use things. he also shot someone at the end (who was subsequently torn to pieces). so zombies learning to use simple tools and guns is kind of where he was going in the first place. hell, in the original script for day, he had a zombie army trained by humans if i remember correctly.

Ah...granted...so is that a genius zombie, or one that escaped from a goverment traing facility you think? confused

if you're asking about the zombies in land, i think it's just the idea of social evolution in a large group of semi intelligent creatures. they aren't mindless, and firing a gun isn't exactly hard. the zombies in this have been around for a while at the point of land, and so working towards simple tool use isn't that far-fetched. besides, romero will do what he needs to for whatever social commentary he has in mind; every romero dead movie has been social satire or criticism. maybe for this one it's the rise of the proletariat or something.

I love the way hollywood gets a film idea.. abuses it til its completely lost all originality and goodness left in it then kicks it out the door.

its the turn of the Zombie films.

Fingers crossed for Land of the Dead though. I really enjoyed the old Romero Zombie flicks so i hope this one is deeper than the guff that hollywood will soon be pumping out as zombie films.

Its more a rotation of ideas.
They wear them out.. leave them out to air for some years.. then do it again.
and by that i mean big box office stuff too.

As for the comic book conversions.. there's just film after film at the moment
