Recommend me a good printer/scanner

I really need to buy a new one to make my life easier, but I don't want to buy a piece of shit.

Help out the lazy guy with your recommendations and your "stay-the-hell-away-from"s.

don't buy Lexmark! The cartridges cost as much as their printers.

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 825, and we've been very happy together. It prints great photos.

Epson seems to be the way to go for quality.

Yeah don't get a Lexmark no matter what. Mine works for crap, and died within a year of buying it. I have a friend who had the same thing happen. They're cheap but obviously not worth it.

You need to give me a little more than that ... it's a printer/scanner, not a hairstyle.

Yep and the Lexmark driver uses obscene amounts of system resources even when your not printing.
All that and it reports back to Lexmark.
Stay away.

I like my HP, but it is a bit spendy. Also, I don't print all that much on it. And I'm not really a printing snob. So I guess I'm not really the person to ask. Except that I like it.

The Amazon review of my HP 2110. Looks like it was discontinued. You can get it for $49! They still make the cartridge (it's one of the ones that fits into about a jillion models). I'm with the last dude's review, it is noisy, but other than that, it's cool.
