I just didn't dig the movie...It seemed like a movie built around funny dialogue with no real point, conflict, or resolution.

The quotes are enjoyable though.

It was a very good movie and I enjoyed it.

That said, I will rejoice when people finally stop quoting it like it was a lifestyle.

One of my favorite films of all time. In the begining you kind of don't like the characters but they evolve and grow and you end up liking them in the end. MTV produced the film so having it win the award was kind of cheezy. The film was just brilliant and up there with David Lynches work. What the film maker did was create his own universe with characters that had depth which is very very hard to do.

I need Deb to take my Glamour Shot she was hot.

Did you really just say that Napolean Dynamite was comparable to David Lynches films?! whatever

Also, MTV didn't produce Napolean Dynamite, they distributed it.

I seen this movie in theatres on the weekend it came out w/ my then boyfriend and two other people sitting behind us. Me and him agreed it was one of the stupidest but greatest movies evar. Then it came out on DVD and got popular. Now it just isn't so good anymore. whatever

BLue Velvet is my favorite film of all time and I think ND ranks up there with Blue Velvet, both create a kind of sureal world. I would say that Blue Velvet is the first Surreal American film and Napoleon Dynamite the first surealist minimalist film. Thanks for the clarification on MTV distibution. I have been an amature film maker and know how hard it is to create the kind of tension in Napoleon Dynamite. I think film students will be looking at this movie as a classic 20 years from now. There is a lot more to this film than just what it seems to be on the surface.

OK, let's break it down. If you were any kind of misunderstood nerd/dweeb/geek/dork etc. in high school (or still are, even), you will probably enjoy this film. If you weren't, you probably won't. I think that about sums it up.

As a film it's pretty deadpan, so if that's not your thing, you also probably won't like it.

I used to believe that "Nothing is any good if other people like it" elitist crap when I was younger. Now I like what I like and devil take the hindmost. Enjoy the things you like and don't let anybody else tell you what's "hip" to like and what ain't. Who cares? Life's too short for that nonsense.

And again, I will quote Napoleon: Just listen to your heart. That's what I do. smile

yeah. it was more like the pieces from a movie that would have been funny, but they cut them out so the other movie could have a plot.
