Anyone here see this film? It features Billy Crudup (Almost Famous) as a drug addict who attempts to put his life back together. Jack Black also gives a brilliant performance like only Jack can. For those who haven't seen it, I reccomend highly, even though it may be a bit difficult to track down at Blockbuster, Holywood, or any other big rental chain.

i've seen it. it's entertaining. i wouldn't call it amazing or anything. but fun from what i remember. i liked the girl in it, i forgot who it was. crudup rocks in almost everything i've seen him in. he's like an underrated johnny depp.

Yeah, it's pretty much wonderful. Actually, watching it made me start reading Denis Johnson. He's the one with a knife in his eye.

I wouldn't say a film about recovering drug addicts is wonderful, but eh, if you want to kill your mood.... maybe...

I haven't see it, but I'll have to track it down.

When I'm rushing on my run
And I feel just like Jesus' son

I assume this is the origins on the title. There's a book?

I don't remember the movie all that well, but I do remember thinking that Billy Crudup was very good and I'd rather have read the book. It seemed to me to be very obviously an adaptation.

i believe this is from denis johnson's first book of poems, the incognito lounge... which spawned his book, jesus' son... which spawned the movie... i own all three. you should too. smile

Excellent book. I'll check out the movie now.

Tell me something if you've seen it...

Does it have the scene where the guy just pulls the knife out of the patient's eye? I loved that part. I laughed so hard.

it is a great book - i read it for the first time years ago. read the whole thing during a weird blurry bus ride from NYC to Iowa - it worked out pretty well for the scenario.

IFC plays it all the time. it's one of those movies that's great to watch at any time and at any point in the movie when there's nothing else on. kudos for having that sergeant barry sadler song playing during that scene with jack black and the dead rabbit

I love Jesus' Son
Its a movie and book a lot of people can relate to. The movie also has a really great soundtrack that is hard to find.

]The traveling salesman had fed me pills that made the linings of my veins feel scraped out. I knew every raindrop by its name. I sensed everything before it happened.

If you have ever had a "substance" abuse problem or you know some one who has than this film becomes all the more meaningful. It is not simply a film about recovering drug addicts. Jesus' Son is a compassionate, spiritual film about redemption and the light at the end of the tunnel.

I've only ever seen the trailer for this movie, but the impression that I got is that it is the most "Independant Film"-looking independant film ever released.
