Boston street punks, The Unseen have just released full length album, State Of Discontent on their new home Hellcat Records. The four-piece are gearing up for a hectic schedule of touring including a summer of fun on this year's Vans Warped Tour.
Well I'm from a bit north of boston and I have to say I don't love the new unseen. I think they are a bunch of dicks now. What happend to goodbye america fuck you? Playing warped tour? Give me a fucking break. Their old sound is great, their new sound sucks. You couldn't pay me to listen or see them now.
No offense really, but don't play political and do shit like support a tour that has some sketchy labor practices and refuses to release shops that their shoes are made in.
I could go on forever about this band. I used to love em really, now I'm just disappointed I guess.

Above all, good interview.
Ehh, i own every album they ever put out, and they never dissapoint. They're just trying to get their name known, like he said he's doing this for the rest of his life so he and his band has to get money somehow. In my eyes they never sold out and everytime i meet them they're awesome guys. The Unseen is one of the best punk bands i've ever listened to.

It's one thing to try to get your name known. It's another to start mainstreaming your music so that you can make money. Their sound has changed 100% since "So This Is Freedom?" and the Rodent Popsicle 7"s. When they played Boston every weekend they weren't bad guys, but weren't super cool. I remember hearing at one show they were pretty much insulting the boston scene in a lot of their songs.
Anyway, my real problem with them comes from the fact that they've done a political 180. Thier politics are what got them a lot of fans. Now that same fuck corporate america political band is playing for Vans? On Hellcat Records? I really don't want to insult the integrity of Hellcat because they have some really great bands, but Epitaph isn't exactly the pinnacle of DIY punk rock.
There are a ton of bands that have been around forever, that get their name known in other ways. Like dedication, hard work, and playing tons of shows. Work on the side, tour when you can. They just want the easy way, they want the money, they want the pseudo radicalism that Anti-Flag and Rage Against the Machine latched onto.
They honestly sound like The Virus mixed with Anti-Flag now. If you like it, great. But it's sure as fuck not for me.
