Fascinating documentary about a school for autistic children.

Ahh shit! I really wanted to watch this, I live with three people training to be nurses for adults with learning disabilities

Shit that was good. Anybody see it have thoughts/feelings? Friends/family of mine do carework and I have been planning to get into at some point. My sister has downs.
I've worked with disabled children at theatre groups. That programme just inspired me to get my CRB through and do some 'proper' hands on care work.

I just saw a news clip about a computer that apperately translates sounds into words or letters....now before smart ass comments....
I guess the person developing this says autistic kids relate well to music- seen when a autistic kid can play a classical piece after hearing it once. So the hope is to use musical keys to represent words or letters (I forget which) ...and it will translate so the kid can communicate better.

they had something on the discovery channel about autism recently...and this woman who is the ambassador for autism or something like that...she's austistic and they thought for years that her iq was only in the 30's but then they tested her recently with that new computer program and apparently she has a near-genius iq....and she's in her late 20's......imagine going your whole life with people thinking you're retarded and you have no way of telling them you're not? i don't know if i could handle that.....
