I'm so tired of hearing "We don't allow facial piercings", I've asked everywhere(and applied at some)and no where lets their employees have piercings. I would take almost any job doing almost anything if they'd just allow me to have my piercings..I don't mind a uniform, I'm not a rude person, I just need a job. But I would rather just scrape by than change myself, it's one of the things i feel strongest about(as i'm sure we all feel) this might be something we all deal with, but i just needed to get that out...grr i get so frustrated, when i try literally every place i've been in or near for the past few months and none of them would want to hire me..some how i feel that if enough people refuse to take out there piercings or cover up their tattoos for a job then maybe(just maybe someday)the job market would become more accepting? you know they whole it only takes one person to start a revolution thing, that's what i pretend i'm doing by not being employed due to my mods lol

Sadly, piercings are still thought of as a mutilation, rather than art or self-expression. And people get the "willies" and refuse to patron places with pierced individuals.

*sigh*

Narrow minded people unite...........preferably in some other country and leave this one the hell alone!

Well, some people find jobs where they can have their piercings. If you can't, man up, take that shit out and get a job.

learn some HTML and get a job in the web industry.

"we don't give a fuck what you got through your face" is our industry motto.

that is why life is hard sometimes you have to make sacrifices. wither it be not having percings or not having a good job. lifes a bitch. and in my personal expierence the job market sucks no matter what. Xixax brings up a good point it has been explained to me that the squeaky wheel gets the oil. which means that the more you let the employer know that you really want the job the more thet will consider you for the job. it is kinda a form of flattery and it goes a long way.

sometimes the world it is not what it should ... businesses need to project an image to appeal to their customers ... an office have to look professional to attract clients, Macys need salesperson who dress like their customers ... if you want a job that allows body piercings, look for jobs in places that are aim to people who are not into the mainstream or in places where individuality is valued like any type of artists (painters, make-up, designers , etc) ...

either that or just suck it up and remove your piercings for 7 hours and put them back after work ... I did that for one year until I got tired of doing it everyday ...
I'm a big fan of body piercings (having had my share of piercings), if it were up to me, you would have a job now, but sometimes you just gotta compromise with what the world throws at you ...

It's sort of fun to get mods that aren't visible when you're in uniform though. It's a little game for me to plan out which items on my mods list will not get me fired. I'm also very fond of glasswearstudios' retainers. smile

when you go out of your way to make your appearence abnormal, people will treat you as such. i dont get why people are surprised by this.

Yeah, the "job force" will change it's policies, but not when enough people refuse, trust me, plenty folks refuse, Companies make there policies on what the "general public" accept. And the general public is STILL ruled by old rich ignorant petty white folks who are certain that ANYTHING out side "there" norm is just wrong and should be shunned like a leper.

Problem is, only two things can happen, we'll all get old, and the policies will change, but then our kids will hate peircings cause we all had them, or we'll all get old and just as ignorant. Either way welcome to the revolving door of the lowest common demoninator.

Try the adult industry Porn stores don't care.
Try parlors and headshops.
Try warehousing, try Janitorial.

There are the places where "fringe" folks get jobs, it's ugly and stupid, but here I am...a janitor, cause I refuse to not die my hair a thousand colors or cover up my neck tats.

It depends where you live and what industry / labour market you're looking for work in. There's lots of good jobs where you can have a facial piercing where I live on Vancouver Island, BC. Keep up the revolting, cat! smile

I know it's been said plenty of times before, but normal and abnormal are subjective terms.

quiet commie scum.

i kid, i kid.

yeah, i'm going to have to second this. i've lost piercings to job interviews, and to jobs, but rent is more important than holes in my face, as much as i love my piercings.

...

its not "their" norm, its a social norm.
and choosing an applicant who will be better received by the public is not shunning them, its a logical business choice.
in any service job basically all you have to do, is show up, and do what the customers want, and if that happens to be taking metal out of your face, than thats what you gotta do.
