fuck! fuck! fuck!

i have time warner digital cable in manhattan. the hbo, cinemax and showtime channels each come with an on-demand channel so you can watch whatever movies/specials/series whenever you want.

but it NEVER FUCKING WORKS EVER cause they probably just dont have suffucient juice or infrastructure (amplifiers/bandwidth) to meet the demand of the customers.

of course they sell it to you by saying its better than renting cause they never run out of copies like the video store does. BULL-SHIT they dont run out.

motherfuck them!!! how do they get away with this bullshit!?!?! how do they get away with selling you something and only giving it to you about 10% of the time? id rather not have it at all than spending all that time to choose something i want to watch only to discover that it 'cannot be accessed at this time'.

fuck fuck fuck fuck them and thank you for listening.

i almost feel better now but they just posted season 4 of six feet under and i was kind of in the mood for a marathon.

Put a satelite dish up instead and deal with only getting all services 10% of the time, then you can complain.

My On Demand (Comcast) didn't work either. They came out several times to try to fix it, but to no avail. Apparently, it had something to do with how far away the box was from the house. I dunno, some such thing. Anyway, I ended up getting rid of it, but not because of that. I just realized I didn't watch enough TV to justify paying that much for it. So I downgraded to basic. But when I was at college and had Time Warner, it was much better. So, who knows.

tongue i had direct tv when i lived in brooklyn for a year. it was CONSTANTLY freezing and full of artifacts.

the best part about that was when i called them to complain, they instructed me to go fuck myself, and then to pay a private contractor to come inspect my perfectly functional hardware for no reason. fuck them too.

I had the same problem, it kept telling me it was not available. It sometimes helped to unplug the box and plug it back in. Sometimes. And the box has a 15min boot cycle.

Still Like it better than satellite though

You're stronger willed than I. I think I dealt with it for two days before demanding all my money back and switching back to cable.

Jiggle the cable and then hold the remote in your left hand and tilt your head slightly to the right and it will work.

I have no problems at all with my digital cable/On-Demand (Comcast) or my cable braodband connection (Comcast). Maybe I'm just lucky.

I think it's because the roll-out in the Philly area has been so slow that they are sure to have enough infrastructure and bandwith in place. Many places in the city don't get it yet, either.

I feel bad for people who live in the central part of University City. Penn subsidized Urban Cableworks, some Time-Warner subsidiary, to provide cable in the area, then set up a company to buy bandwith from them and sell it back to students at even higher prices. It's like somebody charging you to take money out of their left pocket and put it in their right pocket.

I never have problems with my satellite and some friends of mine who had digital cable had lots of trouble with theirs, especially when it rained. It's weird how drastically the level of service varies from place to place.
