I'm a PC guy myself, but you should be able to find help from the ELECTRONIC MUSIC group. I've heard it's not too difficult.

i dont have a mic but....

If you connect an instrument or microphone to your computer's audio in port, open System Preferences, click the button for Sound preferences, click the Input tab in the Sound pane, select Line In in the sound input list, then drag the Input volume slider to set the input level.

Tegan,

You'll want to open GarageBand and add a new track. Select the Real Instrument tab in the dialog box, then go to voice, choose any effects you want to add. Select the channel. (Channel 1 should work, I think). Then click OK, make sure the vocal track is selected in the Tracks column, and hit the record button (the red, round one). Then go wild.

If it doesn't work, check to make sure the built in mic is selected in the audio tab in the Preferences pane.

I think this all should work, let me know if it doesn't.

Edit: When you're done recording, hit the record button again. The timer and things will keep moving - you can record things later in the song if you want. To make everything stop moving, hit the play button.

what sick said was right, but you can choose any of the choices in real instruments for even more effects, or you can record it plain using vocals > no effects and when you're done recording you can choose show track info and try different real instruments
