21 grams was great though

when i saw ESotSM, I thought: "Is this some weird version of Dark Side of the Moon (DSotM)?

Careful, he'll start a thread saying how much DSotM sucks too.

I liked 21 grams a lot - .... I dont know about brilliant, but I really like beau travaille, Red, and Blue

I didnt say esotsm "sucked" I said its a movie that people rave about that I didnt really like - so blaggaglarualgggh

now were getting somewhere - but again, I didnt say it sucked - it was ok - I just didnt really like it - compared to the rave reviews

well, on the scientific side - it didnt really have a very strong science fiction aspect to it - like how they erased memories and all - that was way not the point of the movie I know- but still, there would be a lot of implications if you really did that erased huge chunks of memories -

it had the guy from lord of the rings in it - (thats just a stupid joke )

but really, I didnt like its view on relationships - like theyre kind of destined to happen and that you can be completely introverted like jim carey was, and just wait for some great relationship to come along - typically, if you just wait like that - I think - youll just be alone forever

and, then in the end- it seems like they were happy to get to go through their relationship again - but it seemed like they were acknowledging from the beginning that it was kind of doomed - she said "Ill get bored eventually" and he said "Ill find something wrong with the relationship eventually" and they were like - well, ok, at least we can get a couple years in before that inevitably happens -.... it seemed to me


so thats why I didnt really like it - it seems like people thought it was so romantic and such a good relationship movie - but the main messages of the movie about relationships was kind of bleak in my view.....

the philosophy - its always about the philosophy and aesthetics

and since you asked why I liked 21 grams -because it had everything good in it - drugs, self mutilation, religious devotion, surgery, projectile vomitting, a crumbling relationship, sean penn, swimming,screaming,intense emotions, mourning, forgiveness, and death.

This threads reminds me of those "your favorite band sucks" shirts, except that it's neither funny nor original.

so, you like "21 Grams" for those reasons, but don't like "Eternal Sunshine..." because....

in 21 grams though - they were very proactive - he amited that their relationship was a sham and went to have an intense interaction with the girl whose husbands heart he had - and his girlfriend was trying to have his baby before he died -

so, why did some of you like esotsm so much? obviously its very popular

breaking the waves - that was a really good movie

Who that mind you, has working brain cells still could possibly think bash upon this movie. It was nearly a cinematic masterpiece. And mind you I am one picky jaded cynical uptight bitchy downright stubborn hard to please dour bitch.

Garden State was ok. It wasn't amazing, but it was a good movie.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind rocked my socks off, though.
