A mother who hired a stripper for her 16 year old son's birthday has been indicted by a grand jury.

Maybe the boy enjoyed the show and wasn't harmed, but there are laws and the laws are obvious; don't mix sex and minors. A good idea for people committing criminal acts is "don't take photographs".

The Mother seems defiant, or maybe just stupid.

And all the neighbors children.

I agree but I suppose it's better than the typical underage drinking followed by car wrecks.

Personally, when I was 16, I could barely watch a movie love scene with my mom in the room without getting antsy...

Even regardless of the age issue, if I was a mother I wouldn't be interested in playing that big a part in my sons sexual awakening. There are some things that just aren't parent/child activities for me.

I have 2 kids, both boys, one is 5 and the other is 1....when the time comes for them to be "sexually awakened", I think that's how it was put, the only part that I want to have in it is that they think about the things I have taught them and make the right decision to be safe, and happy. The idea of sitting with my teenage sons while they watch a stripper is, well, it just doesn't seem right to me. When they get older, meaning 25+, then I might be alright with as a bonding experience with them as men...but teenagers??? Come on....there is no way to rationalize that being ok.

when will parents learn? they card you at the door of the strip club for a reason - I mean, what was this mother thinking? Besides just the negative idea of presenting your child (who may not even have the right to drive in some states) with a naked chick for his birthday, the fact that there were other kids there, who did NOT have permission should have tipped her off. And I can't even believe the kid was into it - I'm sorry, but I enjoyed my sexual exploration without my mom there - and I would think this kid would want that too.

Not to mention - what does this give the kid to look forward to? Does he get an actual prostitute for his 18th birthday? This trend is just becoming more and more common. A family in my hometown got busted for serving kegs at a sweet 16 - it just worries me - I left home and went to college and experimented - with sex, liquor - whatever - if it had been presented freely to me by my parents, I'm not sure if I wouldn't have bothered experimenting, or if I just would have experimented with things that were even harder...

Hell... I'm gonna go against the grain on this one.

I'd have LOVED to gotten a stripper for MY 16th birthday.

On a related note: I was watching Larry The Cable Guy on TV yesterday and he said something like:

"Yeah, I went to go visit a friend of mine but when I got there, things weren't so good. Seems his 10 year old son had sex with his school teacher. Unfortunately, his son is homeschooled."

I'm not usually big on feminism, but doesn't it seem as if this is NOT a healthy way to grow a 16 yr old's sexuality? I mean, it sounds damn cool, but it seems to just be furthering the principle of objectifying women. Bleck.

What's stupid is that the law in the UK says you have to be 16 to have sex, but 18 to buy porn or apparently see a stripper? Dumb.

I'm not shifting the blame, or anything, but why would somebody agree to strip for a bunch of 16 year olds?

Like no one's ever thought of sex at 16. Alot of the people on this site claim to have lost their virginity before that age. I sure many of you had viewed porn by that age too. I hear this said about other things, so I'll say it here as well: I'd rather have my kids do it under my supervision than elsewhere.

Also some parents want so much to be that "cool" parent that they will do stupid things in order to gain their childrens acceptance. This was one case.
The pictures were a bad idea though. As well as inviting the neighborhood kids.

It also must have been kind of embarassing for the stripper. Maybe she should have thought twice about the situation.
